Tennis
Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to manoeuvre the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. Patricio Cornejo Seckel (; born 6 June 1944) is a retired Chilean professional tennis player of the 1970s. Andrés Hammersley
Andrés Hammersley Núñez (17 October 1919 — 10 January 2002) was a Chilean tennis player. He is considered one of the main referents of the tennis of his country in the 1940s and 1950s. Hammersley was nicknamed «the Huaso». Biography He was son of the athlete Rodolfo Hammersley and Lucía Núñez, and brother of the skier Arturo Hammersley. Simultaneously to his tennis career, he studied contactology in Germany, being one of the first Chilean specialists in this area. He had three marriages, one of them with Carla Timmerman. Fernando Francisco González Ciuffardi (; born 29 July 1980) is a Chilean former professional tennis player. During his career he made it to at least the quarterfinals of all four Grand Slam tournaments. He played his only major final at the 2007 Australian Open, losing to top-seeded Roger Federer. Career Gamonal first played Davis Cup tennis for Chile in 1998 and by the time he retired had taken part in nine ties. He won three of his eight singles rubbers and four of his five doubles matches. Jaime José Fillol Durán (born 3 June 1946), known professionally as Jaime Fillol Sr., is a retired professional tennis player from Chile, who played in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Fillol was ranked as high as world No. 14 in singles on the ATP rankings (achieving that ranking on 2 March 1974) and No. 82 in doubles (2 January 1984). In the Open era (after 1968), Fillol won 6 singles titles and 16 doubles titles. In addition he was a founding member and one of the first ATP Presidents. As President of the ATP, Fillol had a passion to create the first pension plan of the ATP and thus it was named after him. Fillol is also a member of the University of Miami "Hall of Fame" where he graduated in 1969. José Antonio Fernández (tennis)
José Antonio Fernández (born 26 January 1965) is a Chilean former professional tennis player. Fernández is the son of Carmen Ibarra and nephew of Patricio Cornejo, both noted international tennis players. A 1979 Orange Bowl champion (in the 14s), Fernández turned professional the following year and competed through the 1980s and into the early 1990s. He had a career high singles ranking of 202 in the world and featured in qualifiers at the 1981 Wimbledon Championships. At his peak he competed regularly on the ATP Challenger Tour, with a final appearance at Salerno in 1989, but he also made four main draw appearances on the ATP Tour/ Grand Prix circuits.
