The World (TV Program)
''The World'' is an Australian news program which broadcasts on ABC News (TV channel), ABC News from 10pm to 11pm on weekdays. The program is hosted by Beverley O'Connor and airs live in all Australian time zones on the ABC News channel. It is also streamed live on the ABC's website and broadcast live on Foxtel pay television service and also broadcast on Australia Plus throughout the Asia-Pacific region. History The program commenced broadcasting on 22 July 2010, the same evening on the launch of ABC News 24, with then host Scott Bevan presenting its first edition. The program originally aired at 9pm to 10pm and had a strong focus on overseas news. Weekend Today (Australian TV Series)
''Weekend Today'' is an Australian breakfast television program, currently hosted by Richard Wilkins and Belinda Russell. It has been broadcast live by the Nine Network since 2009 and airs after children's programming and runs from 7am to 10am on weekends. The show is broadcast from the Nine Network studios in North Sydney, a suburb located on the North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales. History In January 2009, David Gyngell, chief executive of the Nine Network and John Westacott, former head of news and current affairs announced that ''Today'' would begin broadcasting on Sunday mornings. The program entitled, ''Today on Sunday'', competes in the same timeslot as the Seven Network's ''Weekend Sunrise'', which dominates Sunday morning television nationally, except on the east coast. It broadcast weekdays on the Nine Network. The show also has a weekend edition called ''Weekend Today''. ''Today'' airs each weekday after '' Nine News: Early Edition'' and runs from 5:30 am to 9:00 am before ''Today Extra'', an extended light entertainment program, hosted by David Campbell and Sylvia Jeffreys. Nine News
''Nine News'' (stylised ''9News'') is the national news service of the Nine Network in Australia. Its flagship program is the hour-long 6:00 pm state bulletin, produced by Nine's owned-and-operated stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin. National bulletins also air on weekday mornings, weekend afternoons and most nights of the week after 10:30pm. In addition, a supplementary regional news program for the Gold Coast in Queensland airs each weeknight as well as regional bulletins for Northern NSW and the Gold Coast under the name of ''NBN News'' air seven nights a week. Up until the mid-2000s, ''Nine News'' was generally the highest-rating news service in Australia, but in 2005 it was overtaken by the rival ''Seven News'' before it regained the lead on a national basis in 2013. The Nine Network (stylised 9Network, commonly known as Channel Nine or simply Nine) is an Australian commercial free-to-air television network. It is owned by parent company Nine Entertainment and is one of five main free-to-air television networks in Australia. From 2017 to 2021, the network's slogan has been "We Are the One". Since 2021, the network has changed its slogan back to the iconic Golden Era slogan "Still the One". As of 2022, the Nine Network is the second-rated television network in Australia, behind the Seven Network, and ahead of the ABC TV, Network 10 and SBS. ''Sunrise'' is an Australian breakfast show program. It is broadcast on the Seven Network, and is currently hosted by David Koch and Natalie Barr. The program follows '' Seven Early News'', and runs from 5:30 am to 9:00 am. It is followed by '' The Morning Show''. History The history of ''Sunrise'' can be traced back to 14 January 1991 when '' 11AM'' news presenter Darren McDonald began presenting an early morning ''Seven News – Sunrise Edition'' bulletin prior to hostilities breaking out during the Gulf War. The Seven Network (commonly known as Channel Seven or simply Seven) is a major Australian commercial free-to-air Television broadcasting in Australia, television network. It is owned by Seven West Media, Seven West Media Limited, and is one of five main free-to-air television networks in Australia. The network's headquarters are located in Sydney. As of 2014, it is the second-largest network in the country in terms of population reach. The Seven Network shows various nonfiction shows—such as news broadcasts (''Seven News'') and sports programing—as well as fiction shows. In 2011, the network won all 40 out of 40 weeks of the ratings season for total viewers, being the first to achieve this since the introduction of the OzTAM ratings system in 2001. ''Living Black'' is a current affairs (news format), current affairs program aired on SBS (Australian TV channel), SBS, Australia, addressed primarily to the interests of Australia's Indigenous Australians, indigenous community. Karla Grant has been executive producer of this program, which she developed, since 2002. She has also been fronting the show since 2004. Programming In 2010, the show aired on Special Broadcasting Service, SBS TV with one or two repeats airing during daytime programming during the week on SBS Viceland. From 2013 the show screened on SBS and was repeated at a later time on National Indigenous Television (NITV) each week. Insight (Australian TV Program)
''Insight'' is a current affairs television programme with a live participating audience, broadcast on the SBS network. Each programme covers a single issue and has studio guests participating in the discussion. History Debuting in 1995, ''Insight'' started out as a national domestic current affairs program dealing primarily with Australian issues, while ''Dateline'' covered international ones. It was hosted from 1999 until 2001 by Gael Jennings. After that, Jenny Brockie, coming from the ABC, began to host the programme. Soon thereafter, the format was transformed to "a discussion forum focusing on a single issue with the participation of a studio audience".
