One Day International (ODI) cricket is one of three forms of cricket played at international level. Unlike Test cricket, ODIs consist of one innings per team and is played over the course of single day. Each innings is limited to a maximum of 50 overs, although previously this has been 55 or 60 overs. Matches are played by the twelve teams representing full member nations of the International Cricket Council (ICC), each of with have permanent ODI status, as well the eight Associate members of the ICC that currently have temporary ODI status. Australia played in the inaugural ODI match against England on 5 January 1971 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
