Movses Kagankatvatsi
Movses Kaghankatvatsi ( hy, Մովսէս Կաղանկատուացի ''Movses Kaġankatvac’i''), or Movses Daskhurantsi ( ''Movses Dasxuranc’i'') is the reputed author (or authors) of a tenth-century Classical Armenian historiographical work on Caucasian Albania and eastern provinces of Armenia, known as ''The History of the Country of Albania'' (, ). Authorship The first historian to mention Movses' work was medieval Armenian legal scholar Mkhitar Gosh, referring to him as "Movses Daskhurantsi." A later historian, Kirakos Gandzaketsi, author of the ''History of Armenia'', referred to a statement in the ''History'' itself, to attribute the name of the author as ''Movses Kaghankatvatsi''. The statement in question (Book II, ch. 11) says: Movses narrates the Khazar invasion of Transcaucasia and other events up to the seventh century in Book I and II of ''History''. Ukhtanes Of Sebastia
Ukhtanes of Sebastia ( hy, Ուխտանես Սեբաստացի, ''Ukhtanes Sebastatsi'') (c. 935-1000) was an Armenian historian and prelate. Educated at the Monastery of Narek under the tutelage of its founder Anania, he eventually attained to the bishopric of Sebastia (c. 970-85) and probably also of Urha (post-985). Hovhanes Draskhanakertsi
Hovhannes Draskhanakerttsi ( hy, Յովհաննէս Դրասխանակերտցի, John of Drasxanakert, various spellings exist), also called John V the Historian, was Catholicos of Armenia from 897 to 925, and a noted chronicler and historian. He is known for his ''History of Armenia.'' He is also the author of a list of Armenian Catholicoi titled ''Shar Hayrapetatsʻn Hayotsʻ''.Yovhannes Drasxanakertc'i/John Katholikos (1987). What little is known about Catholicos Hovhannes's life comes from his own written works. Esayi Abu-Muse
Esayi Abu-Musa ( or ; in Arabic sources: ''Isa ibn-Istifanus'') was an Armenian prince of southern Artsakh who ruled over a significant part of Arran (called Ałuankʻ in Armenian sources) in the mid-9th century and is considered the founder of the Principality of Dizak. Tovma Artsruni ( hy, Թովմա Արծրունի; also known in English-language historiography as Thomas Artsruni; precise birth date and date of death unknown) was a ninth-century to tenth-century Armenian historian and author of the ''History of the House of Artsrunik'' ( hy, Պատմություն Արծրունյաց Տան). Khosrovidukht
Khosrovidukht ( hy, Խոսրովիդուխտ, ; ) was an Armenian hymnographer and poet who lived during the early 8th century. After her slightly earlier contemporary Sahakdukht, she is the first known woman of Armenian literature and music, and among the earliest woman composers in the history of music. Daughter of the king of Goghtn, , her father was killed and she was imprisoned in a Fortification, fortress of Ani-Kamakh (modern-day Kemah, Erzincan, Kemah) for twenty years. Her brother was imprisoned and eventually killed; Khosrovidukht's only surviving work, the Armenian chant, ''šarakan'' "Zarmanali e Ints" ("More astonishing to me") was dedicated to him. Its authenticity has occasionally been doubted, with some scholars attributing it to Sahakdukht. The work did not enter the general repertory of ''šarakan'' liturgy but was eventually approved by the Armenian Apostolic Church, Armenian Church for religious use. ''The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians'' is an encyclopedic dictionary of music and musicians.
