Sir Edmund Monson, 3rd Baronet
Sir Edmund St John Debonnaire John Monson, 3rd Baronet, KCMG (9 September 1883 – 16 April 1969), was a British diplomat who was ambassador to several countries. Career Monson was the second son of Sir Edmund Monson, 1st Baronet, and succeeded his elder brother to the baronetcy created in 1905 for his father (also a diplomat). He was educated at Eton College He entered the British diplomatic service in 1906 and served in junior capacities in Constantinople, Tokyo, Paris and Tehran. He was promoted to Embassy Counsellor in 1923. In 1926, he was appointed Minister to Colombia. Paul Brummell (born 28 August 1965) is a British diplomat and travel writer. Early life Brummell was educated at St Albans School before reading geography at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. He entered the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1987. Career After stints in Pakistan, Italy, and in Whitehall, Brummell received his first posting as head of a diplomatic mission in 2002, as Ambassador to Turkmenistan. Keith Shannon
Keith Shannon (born 17 September 1966) is a British diplomat. He served as British Ambassador to Latvia from 2017 to 2021 and British Ambassador to Moldova from 2009 to 2013. Early life He is the son of Andrew Shannon and Catherine Sutherland, and was born in Edinburgh. He attended Craigmount High School, a comprehensive school in Edinburgh. He gained an MA in Modern History with International Relations from the University of St Andrews. Career He joined HM Diplomatic Service in 1988. From 1995-99 he was the Second Secretary (Technology) in Paris. On 18 May 2009 Shannon became the Ambassador to Moldova in Chişinău. His appointment was announced on 20 November 2008. Richard Peter Ralph CMG CVO (born 27 April 1946) is an English former diplomat who was ambassador to Peru and then chairman of a mining company that operates in Peru. Diplomatic career Ralph was educated at The King's School, Canterbury, and Edinburgh University. He joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1969 and served at Vientiane, Lisbon, Harare and Washington, D.C., as well as at the FCO. Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic
The Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic (Latvian SSR), also known as Soviet Latvia or simply Latvia, was a federated republic within the Soviet Union, and formally one of its 16 (later 15) constituent republics. The Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic was in existence for 51 years, from August 5, 1940 to September, 6 1991. The Soviet annexation of Latvia took place in August of 1939 to the agreed terms of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact (Nazi-Soviet Nonaggression Pact). In 1939 Latvia was forced to grant military bases on its soil to the Soviet Union, and in 1940 the Soviet Red Army moved into Latvia, which was effectively incorporated into the Soviet Union. Sir Charles William Orde, KCMG (25 October 1884 – 7 June 1980) was a British diplomat. The eldest son of Lieutenant-Colonel William Orde, DL, of Nunnykirk, Morpeth, Northumberland, Orde was educated at Eton College and King's College, Cambridge King's College is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. Sir Hughe Montgomery Knatchbull-Hugessen (26 March 1886 – 21 March 1971) was a British diplomat, civil servant and author. He is best remembered as the diplomat whose secrets were stolen by his Kosovar Albanian valet and passed on to Nazi Germany. Sir Joseph Addison KCMG (1879 – 24 November 1953) was British ambassador to the Baltic States, and to Czechoslovakia during the rise of Nazi Germany. Career Joseph Addison, son of John Edmund Wentworth Addison, was educated in France and at Magdalen College, Oxford. He entered the Foreign Office (FO) in 1903 and was assistant secretary at the Second Hague Conference in 1907 before being posted to Peking 1908–10. He was Private Secretary to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Thomas McKinnon Wood then Francis Dyke Acland) 1911–13.
