Marc Murphy (footballer)
Marc Murphy (born 19 July 1987) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited with the first overall selection in the 2005 AFL draft and served as the captain of Carlton from the 2013 season to 2018. He is the son of John Murphy. Early life and junior career Murphy attended Whitefriars College in Donvale. He played for Beverley Hills Junior Football Club and Doncaster Football Club, before playing TAC Cup football with the Oakleigh Chargers. He represented the victorious Vic Metro team at the 2005 AFL Under 18 Championships, winning the Larke Medal as the best player of the tournament. As the son of John Murphy, a Hall-of-Famer and legend of the Fitzroy Football Club, Marc was eligible to be taken by the Brisbane Lions under the father-son rule. Patrick Ryder (born 14 March 1988) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the , and St Kilda Football Clubs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Ryder was noted for his speed, agility and leap for someone of his size and it was these attributes that had his first AFL coach in Kevin Sheedy comparing him to Indigenous Australian rules football star Graham "Polly" Farmer. Ryder's father, Revis Ryder, played football for East Fremantle. Sam Iles (born 19 June 1987) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood and Gold Coast in the Australian Football League (AFL). Football career Iles was picked up in the 2006 Pre-Season draft by Collingwood after he was not taken in the National Draft weeks earlier. Iles played in the VFL for Tasmania as well as for state side in the TAC Cup, which showed signs of development at an early age. He made his debut against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium late in the 2006 season. He played 4 games, being dropped before the finals. Iles found it hard to break into the Collingwood line-up, even with strong and consistent form for Williamstown, managing just the one senior game in the first half of the season, whilst being named as an emergency on nine occasions. Dale Robert Jordan “Daisy” Thomas (born 21 June 1987) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Thomas was a priority pick in 2005 where he then played with the Collingwood Football Club from 2006 to 2013 before transferring to the Blues in 2014. Early life Dale Thomas grew up in Drouin with his mother Kaye, father Darryl and his sister Jessica. As a child, he idolised the Geelong Cats' Gary Ablett, who also grew up in Drouin. He idolised Ablett so much that he used to repeatedly watch his grandfather's tapes of Ablett and Geelong and recreate Ablett's marks and goals. Scott Pendlebury
Scott Pendlebury (born 7 January 1988) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He has served as the Collingwood captain since the 2014 season. In round 18 of the 2020 season, he broke the Collingwood record for most VFL/AFL games played, as well as most games as captain. Early life Originally from Sale in the Gippsland Region of Victoria, Pendlebury began his sporting career playing basketball and accepted a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, however, after 3 weeks at the AIS, he decided to quit the Under 18's squad and return to Victoria to pursue professional football with the Gippsland Power in the TAC Cup. Ryan Jackson (born 4 April 1987) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Australian Football League (AFL) between 2006 and 2008. Junior career Jackson began his football career at the Hurstbridge Junior Football Club, then moving to the Greensborough Junior Football Club, before playing under-18s football with the Northern Knights, where he was club captain in 2005. Dylan McLaren (born 8 May 1982) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. He was recruited as the number 9 draft pick in the 2001 Preseason draft from Sale. He made his AFL debut for the Brisbane Lions in Round 20, 2001 against Fremantle. Dylan struggled to have any major impact on his games until 2004, when he was a consistent player in the Lions' final 22. Dylan was delisted, and picked up by the Carlton Football Club with the first pick in the pre-season draft, at the end of the 2005 season, with the intention that he would fill the back-up ruck position behind Barnaby French. Jason Saddington (born 23 October 1979) is a retired Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. He was recruited as the number 11 draft pick in the 1997 AFL Draft from Eastern Ranges. Career Sydney Jason made his AFL debut for the Sydney Swans in Round 1, 1998 against Port Adelaide. He had a consistent debut season in 1998 and was nominated for the Norwich Rising Star award that year. He kicked 4 goals against the Kangaroos in Round 4 of 2004 in one of his best matches of his career, and was noted as a consistent rebounding backman with a strong mark. Joshua J. Kennedy (born 25 August 1987) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for Carlton from 2006 to 2007 and is regarded as one of the best key-forwards of his generation. Kennedy is originally from Melbourne but grew up in Northampton, Western Australia. Wayne Blackwell
Wayne Anthony Blackwell (born 30 August 1960) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Claremont in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL) and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1978 to 1990. Born in Leicester in England, Wayne Blackwell played his early football in Western Australia and he was a centreman in Claremont's 1981 premiership team. After 112 WANFL games, some as vice-captain, he crossed to Carlton where he was used mostly on the wing and was a member of the side which lost the 1986 VFL Grand Final. Also in 1986 he finished third in the "Best and Fairest" for Carlton. He missed out on playing in their 1987 premiership team due to a knee injury, while a groin injury would force him to retire in 1990.
