Prairie Du Chien Correctional Institution
Prairies are ecosystems considered part of the temperate grasslands, savannas, and shrublands biome by ecologists, based on similar temperate climates, moderate rainfall, and a composition of grasses, herbs, and shrubs, rather than trees, as the dominant vegetation type. Wisconsin Secure Program Facility
The Wisconsin Secure Program Facility (WSPF), originally the Supermax Correctional Institution, is a Wisconsin Department of Corrections prison for men, located in Boscobel, Wisconsin, US. The facility is located east of central Boscobel, off of Wisconsin Highway 133. The prison has a capacity of 500. As of November 2022, the population is 372. History In November 1999, the WSPF opened as the Supermax Correctional Institution on a site. In October 2003, the prison was renamed to the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility. In 2009, the Associated Press filed a lawsuit against WIDOC, trying to force the agency to release a video of an explosion of a stinger grenade launched into a prisoner's cell. The video was eventually released, the AP was awarded legal fees, and the inmate settled an excessive force lawsuit with the Wisconsin DOC for US$49,000 (). Waupun Correctional Institution
The Waupun Correctional Institution is a maximum security penitentiary in Waupun, Wisconsin. The prison is under the command of Warden Randall Hepp. History On July 4, 1851, Governor Nelson Dewey selected the Waupun area to be the site of the Wisconsin State Prison. A temporary structure opened in 1851. It could hold a maximum of 40 inmates, and was intended to be used only until the completion of a wing of the main prison. By December 31, 1852, 27 inmates were held there. The first permanent building was completed in 1854, and is still in use today as the South Cell Hall. According to the Commissioner of the State Prison, it was to be constructed of stone using prison labor. Additions were made over the years in 1855, 1906, 1913, 1940, and 1998. Taycheedah Correctional Institution
Taycheedah Correctional Institution is a prison in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin near the Town of Taycheedah. Established in 1921, it was known as Wisconsin Home for Women until 1975. The facility houses maximum-security and medium-security adult females, with an average population of 936 as of May 2019. History Before the Wisconsin Industrial Home was opened in 1921, female inmates were held in the Wisconsin State Prison in Waupun (now known as Waupun Correctional Institution). After it opened, women who committed "crimes against morality" were transferred to the Wisconsin Industrial Home, while women who had committed more serious crimes or were repeat offenders remained at Waupun. In 1931, construction began on a new facility, the Wisconsin Prison for Women, adjoining the Wisconsin Industrial Home. All women were transferred to this new facility. Redgranite Correctional Institution
The Redgranite Correctional Institution is a medium security adult male correctional institution located in Redgranite, Wisconsin, in the United States. The prison is operated by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Groundbreaking occurred on June 18, 1999, and it opened on January 8, 2001. Boldt Construction Company built it for the state at a cost of $52.9 million. The prison encompasses 89 acres of land, 22 acres of which are within the perimeter. Jean-Baptiste Racine ( , ) (; 22 December 163921 April 1699) was a French dramatist, one of the three great playwrights of 17th-century France, along with Molière and Corneille as well as an important literary figure in the Western tradition and world literature.
