This list of protected areas of Manitoba groups the protected areas of Manitoba by the agency that is responsible for their protection. National Protected Areas Two national parks, overseen by Parks Canada, have been established within Manitoba: *Riding Mountain National Park *Wapusk National Park Riding Mountain National Park forms the core of the Riding Mountain Biosphere Reserve (RMBR), a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Provincial Protected Areas Manitoba has 92 provincial parks. The provincial government has also established more than 50 protected areas under the ''Provincial Parks Act'', overseen by Manitoba Conservation and Climate. This legislation provides for parks to be dedicated for three purposes: The legislation distinguishes several types of park: Wilderness, Natural, Recreation, and Heritage. Gypsumville Wildlife Management Area
Gypsumville is a community in Manitoba, Canada. It is 242 kilometres north-northwest of Winnipeg in the Interlake Region of Manitoba on the north bank of Lake St. Martin in the Rural Municipality of Grahamdale. There are 285 people living in and 175 housing units within the community. History The community was named Gypsumville after a post office with a same name was opened in 1905. The office was named after the gypsum deposits found in the area. Deposits were discovered in 1888 and by 1890 mining operations begun. A shortline railway was built from Gypsumville to the shore of Lake Manitoba, where the gypsum was transloaded on to barges and shipped to a railhead on the Whitemud River at south end of the lake, near the present community of Westbourne. In 1912, the Canadian Northern Railway, which later became part of Canadian National Railway, built a rail line in to Gypsumville along the CN Oak Point subdivision. Lee River Wildlife Management Area
Lee River Wildlife Management Area is a wildlife management area located east of Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba, Canada.} It was established in 1997 under the Manitoba Wildlife Act. Initially the WMA was in size. In 2000, the WMA was protected to Endangered Spaces standards as part of Manitoba’s Protected Areas Initiative. It is in size. Lauder Sandhills Wildlife Management Area
The former Royal Burgh of Lauder (, gd, Labhdar) is a town in the Scottish Borders in the historic county of Berwickshire. On the Southern Upland Way, the burgh lies southeast of Edinburgh, on the western edge of the Lammermuir Hills. Etymology Although Lauder sits in the valley of Leader Water, Watson notes that the names Lauder and Leader appear to be unconnected. In the earliest sources Lauder appears as ''Lawedder'' and ''Loweder''. The name may be derived from the Brittonic ''lǭwadr'', meaning "washing or bathing place" (Breton ''laouer''). Or else, Lauder may be named from a word related to Middle Welsh ''llawedrawr'', "a heap of ruins".
