Jane Aaron (educator)
Jane Rhiannon Aaron (born 1951) is a Welsh educator, literary researcher and writer. She was Professor of English at the University of Glamorgan in south Wales, until her retirement in September 2011. She then became an associate member of the Centre for the Study of Media and Culture in Small Nations at the University of South Wales. Aaron is known for her research and publications on Welsh literature and the writings of Welsh women. Biography and research Aaron was born on 26 September 1951 in Aberystwyth. Her father was the philosopher Richard Ithamar Aaron and his wife Annie Rhiannon Morgan. She graduated in English at the University of Wales, Swansea (1970–1973) and then studied at Somerville College, Oxford, where she gained a PhD in 1980. Joyce Bland
Joyce Bland (10 May 1906 – 24 August 1963) was a Welsh film actress. Early life Joyce Bland was born in 1906, at Caerleon, Wales. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Career Bland made her stage debut on tour in 1927 in '' The Constant Nymph''. She then returned to London and understudied Tallulah Bankhead. In 1935 she appeared in the historical play '' Mary Tudor''. Her interpretation of the role of Goneril in ''King Lear'' was considered "extraordinary" and "sinister". However, another critic referred to her as "the aptly named Joyce Bland," who "spoke finely" and "looked beautiful" as Desdemona in ''Othello'' at Stratford. Ruth Bidgood
Ruth Bidgood (née Jones; 20 July 1922 – 4 March 2022) was a Welsh poet and local historian who wrote in English. Life and career Ruth Jones was born at Blaendulais, Seven Sisters, near Neath, Wales, on 20 July 1922. Her mother, the former Hilda Garrett, was a teacher. Bidgood's Welsh-speaking father, Rev William Herbert Jones, became vicar of St Mary's Church, Aberavon, where Ruth was brought up. She was educated at a grammar school in Port Talbot, and went on to read English at St Hugh's College, Oxford. During World War II, she served in the Wrens as a coder, at Alexandria in Egypt. After the war, Bidgood worked in London helping to prepare a new edition of ''Chambers's Encyclopaedia'', but eventually she and her husband, David Bidgood, whom she had married in 1946, moved to Coulsdon in Surrey. Bridget Bevan
Bridget Bevan (née Vaughan; baptised 30 October 1698 – 11 December 1779), also known as Madam Bevan, was a Wales, Welsh educationalist and public benefactor. She was the chief supporter of Griffith Jones (priest), Griffith Jones and his system of circulating schools. Life Bridget Bevan was born at Derllys Court, Llannewydd, in Carmarthenshire, Wales, in 1698. She was the youngest daughter of the philanthropist John Vaughan (Carmarthenshire), John Vaughan (1663–1722), a patron of the Society for the Promotion of Christian Knowledge (SPCK) schools in the county, and his wife, Elizabeth Thomas (d. 1721). Tara Bethan Williams (born 8 December 1983) is a Welsh actress, singer and presenter. Biography Daughter of professional footballer and wrestler Orig Williams, Bethan was brought up in Llansannan and Rhyl. From a young age, Bethan sang and danced and performed in the ''Eisteddfod''. Jane Brereton (1685–1740) was a Welsh poet who wrote in English. Anna Maria Bennett
Anna Maria Bennett (ca. 1750 – 12 February 1808) was a Welsh novelist who wrote in English. Some sources give her name as Agnes Maria Bennett. They had two illegitimate children, one of whom was the actress Harriet Pye Esten.
