Thor Halvorssen Hellum
Thor Halvorssen Hellum (, locally , May 16, 1943 – July 20, 2014) was a Venezuelan-Norwegian businessman who served as CEO and President of the Venezuelan state-owned telephone company, CANTV and later as Special Commissioner for International Narcotic Affairs in the administration of President Carlos Andrés Pérez. In this post he held the rank of Ambassador. While investigating links to money laundering and drug trafficking, he was imprisoned on charges of terrorism; he was beaten and mistreated in prison, but later found innocent of all charges. Halvorssen's case was taken up by Amnesty International and several other international human rights organizations. The set-up of Halvorssen was reportedly payback for his investigations into presidential corruption, mafia activity, and the money laundering activities of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. Bárbara Palacios Teyde de Manrique (born December 9, 1963) is a Venezuelan TV host, writer, Christian preacher and beauty queen. She is the third woman from Venezuela to win the Miss Universe pageant on 21 July 1986 held in Panama. Early life Palacios was born in Madrid to divorced parents Bárbara Teyde (died September 2008) and Jorge Palacios. Her father was a Spanish actor and her mother was a Venezuelan actress with a prolific acting career in Venezuela. Andrés Levin is a Venezuelan-born American record producer, bandleader, filmmaker, recording engineer and philanthropist. After several nominations, Levin won a Grammy Award in 2009 for his production of the ''In the Heights'' cast recording. His Grammy-nominated Latin fusion band Yerba Buena was founded along with Cuban-American singer Cucu Diamantes. Levin has been called the "master-chef of urban fusion" by the ''Los Angeles Times''. Early life Levin was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Since his father is a musician and producer as well, Levin was surrounded by music. He began playing guitar at age 10 and was soon immersed in the musical world.
