Ultra Prominent Peak
An ultra-prominent peak, or Ultra for short, is a mountain summit with a topographic prominence of or more; it is also called a P1500. The prominence of a peak is the minimum height of climb to the summit on any route from a higher peak, or from sea level if there is no higher peak. There are approximately 1,524 such peaks on Earth. Some well-known peaks, such as the Matterhorn and Eiger, are not Ultras because they are connected to higher mountains by high cols and therefore do not achieve enough topographic prominence. The term "Ultra" originated with earth scientist Steve Fry, from his studies of the prominence of peaks in Washington (state), Washington in the 1980s. His original term was "ultra major mountain", referring to peaks with at least of prominence. The Kamchatka Peninsula (russian: полуостров Камчатка, Poluostrov Kamchatka, ) is a peninsula in the Russian Far East, with an area of about . The Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk make up the peninsula's eastern and western coastlines, respectively. Arga-Tas
The Arga-Tas (russian: Арга-Тас; sah, Арҕаа Таас) is a mountain range in far North-eastern Russia. Administratively it is part of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Russian Federation. The range extends along the southwestern part of the Upper Kolyma District. The village of Utaya, administrative center of the Utainsky Rural Okrug is located at the feet of the range. The Moma Range (russian: Момский хребет, ''Momsky Khrebet''; sah, Муома сиһэ) is a range of mountains in far North-eastern Russia.
