Television has a long history in Ukraine, where regular television broadcasting started during the Soviet years in 1951. However the first ever TV broadcast took place on 1 February 1939 in Kyiv. Poltava (, ; uk, Полтава ) is a city located on the Vorskla River in central Ukraine.
