Cinema Of Andhra Pradesh
Telugu cinema, also known as Tollywood, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Telugu language, widely spoken in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Telugu cinema is based in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, India. The nickname ''Tollywood'' is a portmanteau of the words Telugu and Hollywood. By 2021, it has emerged as the largest film industry in India in terms of box-office. Since 1909, filmmaker Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu was involved in producing short films and travelling to different regions in Asia to promote film work. In 1921, he produced the silent film, '' Bhishma Pratigna'', generally considered to be the first Telugu feature film, and hence, regarded as the ''Father of Telugu cinema''. In 1933, '' Sati Savitri'' directed by Chittajallu Pullayya received an honorary diploma at the 2nd Venice. Mahiravana
In some versions of the Ramayana such as the Krittivasi Ramayana, Ahiravan, also called Mahiravana, is a rakshasa (demon) ruler of Patala. He is variously described as either an ally or a brother of the rakshasa king Ravana. In Thai tradition, he is called Maiyarap. Ahiravan secretly carried away Rama and his brother Lakshmana to the nether-world, consulted his friends, and decided to sacrifice the life of the two divine brothers at the altar of his chosen deity, goddess Mahamaya. However, Hanuman saved their lives by decapitating Mahiravana, and destroying his army. Popular culture The ''Mairavan charitra'' was written in Telugu in Kavya style in the 16th century by Adithya kavi. The story of Mahiravana was made into a Telugu film in 1940 by Ghantasala Balaramaiah entitled ''Mahiravana''. The veteran actor Vemuri Gaggaiah played the role of Mahiravana. Chilakalapudi Seetha Rama Anjaneyulu
Chilakalapudi Seeta Rama Anjaneyulu (11 July 1907 – 8 October 1963), popularly known as C. S. R., was an Indian method acting, method actor, and thespian best known for his works in Telugu cinema, and Telugu theater. He acted in many stage dramas and portrayed lead characters and mythological roles in over 175 movies. He was one of the lead actors of his time. Anjaneyulu was an established lead actor by the late 1930s, preceding the entrance of actors such as N. T. Rama Rao, NTR and Akkineni Nageswara Rao, ANR. His performance in the super-hit ''Bhaktha Ramadasu'' in 1937 won him many accolades. In the 1950s, starting with ''Pathala Bhairavi'' screened at the first International Film Festival of India, he began acting in character roles. ''Viswa Mohini'' () is a 1940 Telugu-language romantic thriller film in the backdrop of Indian motion picture world, directed by Y. V. Rao. The ensemble cast starring V. Nagayya was written by Balijepalli Lakshmikanta Kavi, and was screened at the Venice Film Festival. The production design was handled by T. V. S. Sarma, and cinematography was handled by Pandurang Naik. It is the first Indian film to be made about the movie world. The film released in 1940, and turned out to be a mediocre success. Plot Mohan Rao, who works for a Law firm in Madras, cheats his Manager Padmanabham, and becomes the owner of the company through illegal means. Mohan Rao is the son of Padmanabham's business rival Purushothama Rao. ''Usha Parinayam'' ( te, ఉషా పరిణయము; English: Marriage of Usha) is one of the famous Indian drama. It is also a popular Yakshagana. The play was written in 1901 by Vedam Venkataraya Sastry. Plot Banasura, the king of demons undertakes a severe penance to solicit the blessings of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva appears to Banasura and asks him to reveal his desire. Banasura asks for Shiva, Parvati and their entire family to guard the entrance to his city Sonapuri. Shiva goes to Sonapuri with his entire family including the Pramadhaganas to guard the city. This provides the arrogant Banasura with overconfidence and he wages war against the Devas.
