Cinema Of Andhra Pradesh
Telugu cinema, also known as Tollywood, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Telugu language, widely spoken in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Telugu cinema is based in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, India. The nickname ''Tollywood'' is a portmanteau of the words Telugu and Hollywood. By 2021, it has emerged as the largest film industry in India in terms of box-office. Since 1909, filmmaker Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu was involved in producing short films and travelling to different regions in Asia to promote film work. Anubandham (1984 Film)
''Anubandham'' () is a 1984 Telugu-language drama film directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy. The film stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Raadhika and Sujatha, with music composed by Chakravarthy. It is a remake of the Bengali film ''Uttar Purush'' (1966) which was previously remade in Tamil as ''Uyarndha Manithan'' (1968). Plot The film begins with Rajesh the son of a multi-millionaire visiting their estate with his besties’ driver Ranganna & Dr. Gopal, where Rajesh meets tribal girl Malli and they fall in love. Soon they secretly espouse with the help of Gopal and start living happily. Pasupuleti Ramesh Naidu (1933–1988) was an Indian music composer, multi instrumentalist, and singer, known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema. He garnered the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for the film Megha Sandesam in 1982. He won three Nandi Awards. He was associated primarily with directors like Dasari Narayana Rao, Vijaya Nirmala and Jandhyala. Girish Karnad
Girish Karnad (19 May 1938 – 10 June 2019) was an Indian actor, film director, Kannada writer, playwright and a Jnanpith awardee, who predominantly worked in South Indian cinema and Bollywood. His rise as a playwright in the 1960s marked the coming of age of modern Indian playwriting in Kannada, just as Badal Sarkar did in Bengali, Vijay Tendulkar in Marathi, and Mohan Rakesh in Hindi. Jandhyala
Jandhyala Subrahmanya Sastry (14 January 1951 – 19 June 2001), known mononymously by his surname Jandhyala, was an Indian film director, screenwriter, playwright, and actor known for his works in Telugu cinema and Telugu theatre. He is popularly known as Hasya Brahma (). In a career spanning more than two decades, he directed over 40 films and wrote the dialogue for more than 300 films. Ananda Bhairavi is a 1983 Indian bilingual dance film, simultaneously shot in Telugu and Kannada languages, written, and directed by Jandhyala. Geetha Kadambee (born 14 July 1962) is an Indian actress who appears in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi films. She debuted in the Tamil film ''Bairavi'' (as Rajinikanth's sister). Since then she has acted in over 200 films in all major South Indian languages, and in a few Hindi films. She also appears in South Indian television serials. K. Chakravarthi (born Kommineni Appa Rao; 8 September 1936 – 3 February 2002) was an Indian music director who primarily worked in Telugu cinema. He made his debut with in 1971 with ''Mooga Prema'' and went on compose music for over 949 films, predominantly in Telugu language (884 films), followed by Kannada (60 films). He won two Nandi Awards. Personal life Chakravarthi was born as Kommineni Appa Rao on 8 September 1936 in Ponnekallu, Guntur District of present-day Andhra Pradesh. He had three sons, including Sri Kommineni who was also a music director and a playback singer. Career Chakravarthi learned classical vocal from Mahavadi Venkatappaiah.
