Cinema Of Andhra Pradesh
Telugu cinema, also known as Tollywood, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Telugu language, widely spoken in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Telugu cinema is based in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, India. The nickname ''Tollywood'' is a portmanteau of the words Telugu and Hollywood. By 2021, it has emerged as the largest film industry in India in terms of box-office. Since 1909, filmmaker Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu was involved in producing short films and travelling to different regions in Asia to promote film work. In 1921, he produced the silent film, '' Bhishma Pratigna'', generally considered to be the first Telugu feature film, and hence, regarded as the ''Father of Telugu cinema''. In 1933, '' Sati Savitri'' directed by Chittajallu Pullayya received an honorary diploma at the 2nd Venice. Sharada (actress)
Sarada (born Saraswati Devi; 25 June 1945) is an Indian actress and politician. Known for her work predominantly in Malayalam films and Telugu films , Sarada is the recipient of three National Awards. She has also appeared in few Tamil, Hindi as well as Kannada language films. She is also known as Urvasi Sarada as National Film Award for Best Actress was officially designated the ''Urvasi Award''. She won three National Awards for her roles in ''Thulabharam'' (1968), '' Swayamvaram'' (1972), and '' Nimajjanam'' (1977). Sarada has garnered the NTR National Award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for her contributions to Indian cinema. Early life Sarada was born Saraswati Devi in Tenali, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. Her parents Venkateswar Rao and Satyavathi Devi belonged to a family of agriculturalists. Sobhan Babu (born Uppu Sobhana Chalapathi Rao; 14 January 1937 – 20 March 2008) was an Indian actor known for his works in Telugu cinema.Bangaru Panjaram in Venditera Paatalu, Krishnasastri Sahityam, third volume, Vishalandhra Publishing House, Hyderabad, pp.78-82. He made his film debut in '' Bhakta Sabari'' (1959), but ''Daiva Balam'' (1959) released earlier. Gummadi (actor)
Gummadi Venkateswara Rao (9 July 1927 – 26 January 2010), known Mononym, mononymously by his surname Gummadi, was an Indian actor and producer, who worked predominantly in Telugu cinema and a few Tamil films. Known as one of the finest method acting, method actors, Gummadi starred in around five hundred feature films. He received critical recognition for his work in ''Thodu Dongalu (1954 film), Thodu Dongalu'' (1954) and ''Mahamantri Timmarusu (film), Mahamantri Timmarusu'' (1962), for which he has received the erstwhile Rashtrapati Award. Gummadi was an official member of the Indian delegation from South India to the ''Tashkent Film Festival'' in 1978 and 1982. Shubha is an Indian actress who acted prominently in Malayalam films. She was a lead actress during the late 1970s and early 1980s. She also acted in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Hindi films. She was the second lead in the cult Kannada classic ''Naagarahaavu'' (1972)''.'' For this, she received Karnataka State Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for the year 1972–73.
