Tasmanian Football League
The Tasmanian State League (TSL), colloquially known as the "Tasmanian Football League (TFL)" (formerly known as the "Tasmanian Australian National Football League (TANFL)" and several other short-term names) is the highest ranked Australian rules football league in Tasmania, Australia. The league has a long and convoluted history which dates back to its founding on 12 June 1879 as the ''Tasmanian Football Association'' (giving it some claim to the title of the third oldest club football league in the world), but the name "TFL" (also the state's football governing body) was removed after it was liquidated with crushing debts in February 1999 and replaced by an independent commission (Football Tasmania) and the competition was renamed the Tasmanian State Football League (1999) and the SWL (2000) until the number of clubs in financial difficulty made the league unsustainable and it collapsed in December 2000. Andrew Vanderfeen
Andrew Wilfred Vanderfeen (born 10 September 1955) is a former Australian Rules Football player who was inducted into the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame in 2015. Vanderfeen played 127 games for the Ulverstone Football Club and 98 games for the Clarence Football Club. Mitch Thorp
Mitchell Thorp (born 25 December 1988), better known as Mitch Thorp, is an Australian rules football player who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Thorp was a key position player, and was taken by Hawthorn at pick six in front of Joel Selwood 2006 National Draft. Thorp debuted against Richmond in round 15 and after a large media buildup he played a promising game, including kicking a goal. An injury from that game meant he was unable to play the following week. Called in as a late replacement, Thorp played his second game against Sydney in round 2, 2009. Thorp had surgery to remove a bone fragment and have a pin inserted in his foot. Thorp would take at least three months to recover from a broken sesamoid bone in his left foot. Aaron Cornelius
Aaron Cornelius (born 29 May 1990) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was selected with the Brisbane Lions' fourth selection (pick 57 overall) in the 2008 National Draft. Cornelius was given the number 44 jumper, previously worn by Brisbane Bears and Brisbane Lions champion Nigel Lappin. Cornelius was delisted by Brisbane at the end of the 2013 season. He then returned to Tasmania where he was announced as the playing-coach of the Glenorchy Football Club in the Tasmanian State League for the 2014 season. Justin Plapp
Justin Plapp (born 22 June 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club and St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Justin was born in Penguin, Tasmania and attended Penguin High School. Plapp caught the attention of AFL clubs after kicking 98 goals with the Burnie Dockers in 1996, which was the most by a player in the TFL Statewide League that year. He was recruited by Richmond in the draft, and played in Richmond's reserves premiership in 1997. He started his senior AFL career in 1998 with two good performances at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, three goals on debut against Fremantle and five more in a win over Carlton the following weekend. Shane Fell
Shane Fell (born 29 September 1967) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Sydney in the Australian Football League (AFL). A forward, Fell played his early football at Kingsville Football Club now Yarraville Seddon and Footscray Under 19s then Glenorchy and was the TFL Statewide League's leading goal-kicker in 1989 with 114 goals before opting to ply his trade on the mainland. Fell was initially recruited to Geelong but they offloaded him to Sydney in the 1989 VFL draft. Wayne Fox
Wayne "Baldy" Fox (born 4 January 1959) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for various clubs in the Tasmanian Australian National Football League (TANFL) and later, the TFL Statewide League. He also played with Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A forward, Fox was the all-time record Tasmanian Football League goal-kicker with 1049 goals and started his career at Glenorchy in 1975, before crossing to New Norfolk in 1981. He was most prolific when playing at New Norfolk, where he topped the TANFL/TFL Statewide league goal-kicking in four successive years from 1983 to 1986. The best of those tallies, 135 goals, came in 1983, and the previous season he was a member of New Norfolk's premiership team. Brett Stephens
Brett Alexander "Moose" Stephens (born 20 February 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy Football Club in the Victorian and Australian Football Leagues (VFL and AFL) and currently a performance coach for world class athletes, working with pro tennis players, golfers and surfers. Football career Stephens was a key position player originally from Croydon, Victoria, and had stints at VFL clubs Essendon and Sydney, Tasmanian Football League (TFL) club North Hobart, and Western Australian Football League's East Perth Football Club before his recruitment by Fitzroy. Kenneth Burn
Edwin James Kenneth Burn (17 September 1862 – 20 July 1956) was an Australian cricketer who played in two Tests on the tour to England in 1890. Although unsuccessful at Test level, Burn is best known for being one of the most prolific batsmen in Tasmania at club level in the nineteenth century. Club career Burn was a prolific batsman in Tasmanian cricket for many years, playing first for his hometown side Richmond Cricket Club, and then the higher profile Wellington Cricket Club. He hit 41 centuries in all grades of cricket, two of them over 350 runs, and six of them in consecutive innings in the 1895–96 season. Without peer, he was undoubtedly Tasmania's best batsman of the 1890s at club and first-class level, leading the Tasmanian Grade Cricket batting averages on 11 occasions throughout his career. Darryl Lewis Sutton (27 July 1952 – 28 January 2017) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club, Richmond Football Club and the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL).
