The Tampa Bay Rays are an American professional baseball team based in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Rays compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) American League East, East division. Peter Bendix
Peter Bendix (born August 1985) is an American professional baseball front office executive. He is the general manager for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball. Career Bendix attended Tufts University, graduating in 2008. He took a course on sabermetrics at Tufts and his research project resulted in two offers for internships. He joined the Rays as an intern in 2009. The Rays promoted Bendix to vice president in 2019, and by 2020 his title was vice president of baseball development. Bendix was named general manager of the Rays on December 16, 2021, succeeding Erik Neander, who had been promoted to president of baseball operations. Rick Williams (baseball, Born 1956)
Richard Anthony Williams (born November 21, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas) is a former Minor League Baseball pitcher and Major League Baseball (MLB) coach who is an MLB scout for the Los Angeles Angels. Early life Williams is the son of the late Dick Williams, Hall of Fame manager of six Major League teams between 1967 and 1988. He attended the University of South Alabama, where he played baseball under former big-league second baseman and manager Eddie Stanky. Playing career Williams was signed by the Montréal Expos out of college. Williams went 3–1 with a 2.90 ERA for the 1977 GCL Expos (completing 3 of 4 starts) and 1-0 in four innings for the Jamestown Expos. In 1978, Williams pitched for the Double-A Memphis Chicks, as he went 7–4 with three saves and a 1.78 ERA. He was promoted to the Triple-A Denver Bears, where he struggled, going 1–1 with a 9.41 ERA. Fred McGriff
Frederick Stanley McGriff (born October 31, 1963) is an American former first baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for six teams from 1986 through 2004. He was one of the most consistently productive powers hitters of the 1990s, posting over 80 runs batted in (RBI) every year from 1988 through 2002, and became the first player since the dead-ball era to lead both leagues in home runs — the American League (AL) in 1989 and the National League (NL) in 1992. A five-time All-Star, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the 1994 contest after his pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the ninth inning tied the score at 7–7, with the NL winning in 10 innings. Gerald Hunsicker (born June 10, 1950) is an American baseball executive. He is the senior advisor of baseball operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball. Hunsicker has been an executive with the New York Mets and Tampa Bay Rays and the general manager of the Houston Astros from November 1995 until the end of the 2004 campaign. He graduated from Saint Joseph's College, Pa. in 1972. Early life Hunsicker received a master's degree in education from Florida International University in Miami, Florida, in 1976. From 1975 to 1978, he was an assistant coach of the FIU baseball team, before entering professional baseball. Cam Bonifay
Cameron Hubert Bonifay (born February 12, 1952) is a former major league baseball executive and scout, best known as general manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1993 to 2001. Career Bonifay's father was a minor league general manager for several teams in the farm systems of the Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds. His own career in sports began as a football placekicker and third baseman at Georgia Tech in the early 1970s. While at Georgia Tech, Bonifay set and tied many records in football as well as baseball as well as being named an All-American Honorable Mention in baseball. Bonifay was not drafted but signed on as an undrafted free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals and played two years of Minor League Baseball. Eddie Bane
Edward Norman Bane (born March 22, 1952) is a former professional baseball pitcher and executive, who played from 1973 to 1976 for the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball (MLB). Career Bane attended Westminster High School then Arizona State University, where he pitched on the school's baseball team. He was a member of the United States national baseball team that won the silver medal at the 1971 Pan American Games. He was named to the 1973 College Baseball All-America Team and was elected to the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008. He was a first-round selection in the 1973 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his professional debut on July 4 with the Twins without spending any time in the minor leagues. Brian Auld is an American professional baseball executive. He is currently the co-president, along with Matthew Silverman, of the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB). Career Auld received his bachelor's degree in economics and master's degree in education from Stanford University. He obtained his MBA from Harvard Business School. He became the lead teacher and director of development at East Palo Alto Charter School in East Palo Alto, California. Auld joined the Rays as their director of planning and development in June 2005, reporting into Matthew Silverman, the team's president. Erik Neander (born May 25, 1983) is an American front office executive in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Tampa Bay Rays. He has worked for the Rays since 2007, and became the team's president of baseball operations in September 2021. Career Neander was raised in Oneonta, New York, and attended the local high school, where he played baseball.
