Southeast Community College (SCC) is a public community college system in the southeast portion of Nebraska. Locations The college offers three campuses, six learning centers and two additional locations in Lincoln that are within the 15-county service area. Omaha Public Power District
Omaha Public Power District, or OPPD, is a public electric utility in the state of Nebraska. It is a publicly owned electric utility in the United States, serving more than 855,000 people in Omaha and 13 surrounding counties in southeast Nebraska. OPPD was formed in 1946 as a political subdivision of the State of Nebraska, taking over the operations of Nebraska Power Company (founded in 1917). A publicly elected eight-member Board of Directors sets rates and policies. OPPD is headquartered in Omaha. In the Summer of 2011, OPPD had its Nuclear Generating Station in Fort Calhoun shut down due to Missouri River flooding. The station was shut down for an extended period of time by Federal NRC Regulators due to serious issues at the plant. The plant started back up in December 2013. Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) is the largest electric utility in the state of Nebraska, serving all or parts of 84 (of 93) counties. It was formed on January 1, 1970, when Consumers Public Power District, Platte Valley Public Power and Irrigation District (PVPPID) and Nebraska Public Power System merged to become Nebraska Public Power District. NPPD's predecessors were created through the efforts of the Nebraska legislature and financial agent Guy L. The Metropolitan Utilities District, or M.U.D., is the political subdivision and public corporation of the U.S. State of Nebraska that operates the drinking water and natural gas systems for Omaha, Nebraska and surrounding areas.
