This is a list of the bird species recorded in Singapore. The avifauna of Singapore include a total of 459 species, 30 of which have been introduced by humans. This list's taxonomic treatment (designation and sequence of orders, families and species) and nomenclature (common and scientific names) follow the conventions of ''The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World'', 2022 edition. The family accounts at the beginning of each heading reflect this taxonomy, as do the species counts found in each family account. The following tags have been used to highlight several categories, but not all species fall into one of these categories. Those that do not are commonly occurring native species. Sentosa
Sentosa Island, known mononymously as Sentosa, and formerly ''Pulau Belakang Mati'', is an island located off the southern coast of Singapore's main island. The island is separated from the main island of Singapore by a channel of water, the Keppel Harbour, and is adjacent to Pulau Brani, a smaller island wedged between Sentosa and the main island. Formerly used as a British military base and afterwards as a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp, the island was renamed Sentosa and was planned to be a popular tourist destination. Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West
Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West is a community park that is situated opposite Ang Mo Kio Public Library, along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6. The park is popular for recreational activities including jogging and a children's playground, and there is a McDonald's restaurant located at the western side of the park and features a drive-thru facility. History The park was the second park to be developed for Ang Mo Kio, and was constructed over a hill. Sungei Serangoon
Sungei Serangoon (Malay for Serangoon River; Chinese: 实龙岗河) is a river in the north-eastern part of Singapore. The 8-kilometre river starts as a canal near Tampines Road, and flows through Hougang, where it is joined by tributary Sungei Pinang just before Sengkang, before flowing towards Lorong Halus, where it is joined by another tributary Sungei Blukar, before emptying into the Serangoon Harbour. The river is also known as the Serangoon Estuary. Since 2011, the river has been converted into a reservoir - Serangoon Reservoir. Ecology Although sections of the river have been canalized at Hougang and Lorong Halus, wildlife at the river is relatively unaffected. Birds like herons, terns, kingfishers can still be found at the river. The area near Lorong Halus is considered one of the best bird-watching spots in Singapore. Sengkang Riverside Park
Sengkang Riverside Park is a riverine park located at Anchorvale Street and Fernvale Street abutting Sungei Punggol, Singapore. The park consist of three open-space land parcels and is also home to a constructed wetland. The Sengkang Sports Centre is located just adjacent to the riverine park, connected by a floating wetland. History The 21-hectare park was opened to the public in November 2008. The park is situated alongside Sungei Punggol. The integration of urban planning and protection of Singapore's water resources has earned Sengkang Riverside Park an ABC Waters Certification. Sengkang Floating Wetland On 7 November 2010, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officially opened the floating wetland that is designed with a "fruitful" theme. Sungei Punggol
Sungei Punggol (Malay for Punggol River; Chinese: 榜鵝河; Pinyin: Bǎng'é Hé) is a river located within the North-East Region in Singapore. Geography Other than Punggol New Town, the river flows through 7 other towns in the late 1990s and early 2000s, much of the river banks along Sungei Punggol have since been reclaimed and the river canalised. Since 2011, it is now part of the Punggol Reservoir. In addition, Kampong Tongkang Pecah was along Sungei Punggol as well. Pulau Semakau
Pulau Semakau (or Semakau Island) is located to the south of the main island of Singapore, off the Straits of Singapore. The Semakau Landfill is located on the eastern side of the island, and was created by the amalgamation of Pulau Sakeng (also known as Pulau Seking), and "anchored" to Pulau Semakau. The Semakau Landfill is Singapore's first offshore landfill and now the only remaining landfill in Singapore. History and Pulau Sakeng Pulau Semakau was home to a small fishing village, as was the nearby island of Pulau Sakeng (Chinese: 锡京岛) which was also known as Pulau Seking. Pulau Hantu
Pulau Hantu is located to the south of the Singapore mainland, main island of Singapore, off the Straits of Singapore. Pulau Hantu is actually made up of two islets: ''Pulau Hantu Besar'' (Big Ghost Island) and ''Pulau Hantu Kechil'' (Little Ghost Island), with a total area of 12.6 hectares. At low tide, it is possible to wade across the shallow lagoon between the two islands, but not at high tide. Etymology The name of Pulau Hantu literally means "Ghost Island" in Malay language, Malay. It may refer to the "disappearing" moment of the middle part of the island during the high tide. During the low tide, Pulau Hantu can be seen as one island with two large bays on its northern and southern sides. Jurong Island
Jurong Island is an island located to the southwest of the main island of Singapore. It was formed from the amalgamation of seven offshore islands, the islands of Pulau Ayer Chawan, Pulau Ayer Merbau, Pulau Merlimau, Pulau Pesek, Pulau Pesek Kechil (also called Terumbu Pesek), Pulau Sakra (which was a previous merger of Pulau Sakra and Pulau Bakau), Pulau Seraya, Pulau Meskol, Pulau Mesemut Laut, Pulau Mesemut Darat and Anak Pulau.
