List Of Silent Musical Compositions
This is a list of musical works which consist mostly or entirely of silence. Theory Some composers have discussed the significance of silence or a silent composition without ever composing such a work. In his 1907 manifesto, ''Sketch of a New Esthetic of Music'', Ferruccio Busoni described its significance: After Paul Hindemith read this, he suggested a work consisting of nothing but pauses and fermatas in 1916. Classical compositions A number of classical compositions consisting primarily of silence have been composed since 1896: *''Il Silenzio: pezzo caratteristico e descrittivo (stile moderno)'' (1896) by "Samuel", a pseudonym, probably ; published in the Year 1. Vol. 1. Nº11. Supplement of the journal La Nuova Musica. *''Funeral March for the Obsequies of a Deaf Man'' (1897) by Alphonse Allais, a French writer and humorist (1854–1905); published in his ''Album primo-avrilesque'' *'' In futurum'' (1919) by Erwin Schulhoff (1894–1942) *''Silent music'' (1941), by Raymon ...

Silence
Silence is the absence of ambient audible sound, the emission of sounds of such low intensity that they do not draw attention to themselves, or the state of having ceased to produce sounds; this latter sense can be extended to apply to the cessation or absence of any form of communication, whether through speech or other medium. Sometimes speakers fall silent when they hesitate in searching for a word, or interrupt themselves before correcting themselves. Discourse analysis shows that people use brief silences to mark the boundaries of prosodic units, in turn-taking, or as reactive tokens, e.g., as a sign of displeasure, disagreement, embarrassment, desire to think, confusion, and the like. Relatively prolonged intervals of silence can be used in rituals; in some religious disciplines, people maintain silence for protracted periods, or even for the rest of their lives, as an ascetic means of spiritual transformation. Rhetorical practice Silence may become an effective rheto ...

Orbital (band)
Orbital are an English electronic music duo from Otford, Kent, England, consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll. The band's name is taken from Greater London's orbital motorway, the M25, which was central to the early rave scene during the early days of acid house. Additionally, the cover art on three of their albums showcase stylised atomic orbitals. Orbital have been critically and commercially successful, known particularly for their live improvisation during shows. They were initially influenced by early electro and punk rock. Career Early years In 1989, Orbital recorded " Chime" on their father's 4 track tape deck, which they released on Oh Zone Records in December 1989 and re-released on FFRR Records a few months later. A Child's Guide To Good And Evil
''Volume 3: A Child's Guide to Good and Evil'' is the fourth album by the American psychedelic rock band The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band (WCPAEB), and was released on Reprise Records in May 1968. By the time the group commenced recording ''Volume 3'', guitarist Danny Harris had excused himself from the WCPAEB, reducing their numbers to a trio. As with the WCPAEB's earlier work, the album saw the band continue to blend psychedelic influences and complex studio techniques, and was marked by a bizarre fusion of innocence and malice in the band's lyrics. ''Volume 3'' featured the WCPAEB's most ambitious music to date, and the striking cover art of John Van Hamersveld, yet it failed to sell in sufficient copies to chart nationally. In more recent times, the album has been considered the band's most accomplished work and a masterpiece of the psychedelic genre. Background The WCPAEB had toured extensively on the Los Angeles live circuit during the first two years of their exi ...

The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band
The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band (WCPAEB) was an American psychedelic rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1965. The group created music that possessed an eerie, and at times sinister atmosphere, and contained material that was bluntly political, childlike, and bizarre. Representing different musical backgrounds among band members, the group, at times, resembled a traditional Byrds-esque folk rock ensemble, but the WCPAEB also, within the same body of work, recorded avant-garde music marked by multi-layered vocal harmonies. Aspiring musician and scenester Bob Markley managed to join the group the Laughing Wind in exchange for his connections in the music industry and substantial bankroll. The original five-piece line-up consisted of Michael Lloyd (rhythm guitar, vocals), Shaun Harris (bass guitar, vocals), Danny Harris (lead guitar, vocals), John Ware (drums), and Markley (tambourine, vocals). The band debuted with the album '' Volume One'' in 1966 on the sm ...

Coil's work explored themes related to the occult, sexuality, alchemy, and drugs while influencing genres such as gothic rock, neofolk and dark ambient. AllMusic called the group "one of the most beloved, mythologized groups to emerge from the British post-industrial music, post-industrial scene." After the release of their 1984 debut EP ''How to Destroy Angels (Coil EP), How to Destroy Angels'', Coil joined Some Bizzare Records, through which they released two full-length albums, ''Scatology (album), Scatology'' (1984) and ''Horse Rotorvator'' (1986).
