Valour-class Frigate
The ''Valour'' class is a class of frigates built for the South African Navy. Part of the MEKO family of warships, the German shipbuilder Blohm+Voss officially designate the class as the MEKO A-200SAN. Designed as a multiple purpose, multi capable frigate, the Valour class encompasses the general guided-missile anti-surface and anti-air role, forming the core of the South African surface fleet. Four Valour class frigates were constructed for the South African Navy as part of the Strategic Defence Package 1999. The first, SAS ''Amatola'', was commissioned in 2006, with the fourth and final, SAS ''Mendi'', commissioned in March 2007. The frigates have a service life of 30–40 years. The Valour class are named after incidents of conspicuous bravery throughout South African military history. Sa'ar ( he, סַעַר, ''lit.'' Storm) is a kibbutz in the western Galilee in Israel. Located near Nahariya, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Asher Regional Council. In it had a population of . Warrior-class Strike Craft
The Warrior-class strike craft (ex Minister class) are in service with the South African Navy, with the design being a modified Sa'ar 4 (''Reshef'')-class fast attack craft. The class was initially known as the Minister class as all the boats were named after South African Ministers of Defence, before being renamed Warrior-class after 1994. The strike craft flotilla was known as SAS ''Scorpion''. History In March 1971, a South African project team visited Britain, France and Portugal to investigate alternative designs for future frigates or corvettes.
