The Royal Air Force (RAF) is the United Kingdom's air and space force. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen), formerly more commonly lieutenant-general, is a senior rank in the British Army and the Royal Marines. It is the equivalent of a multinational three-star rank; some British lieutenant generals sometimes wear three-star insignia, in addition to their standard insignia, when on multinational operations. Lieutenant general is a superior rank to Major-general (United Kingdom), major general, but subordinate to a General (United Kingdom), (full) general. High Wycombe, often referred to as Wycombe ( ), is a market town in Buckinghamshire, England. Chris Elliot (RAF Officer)
Air Vice Marshal Christina Reid Elliot, is a retired senior Royal Air Force officer. Military career Educated at the University of Glasgow, Elliot joined to Royal Air Force in 1985. She became a member of the Directing Staff at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in 2006, Group Captain Airspace Control Capability at RAF Air Command in 2007 and station commander at RAF Halton in 2010. She went on to be Group Captain Programmes in Finance, Programmes and Plans at RAF Air Command in 2012. Elliot was promoted to air commodore on 30 August 2013 and appointed assistant chief of staff training, HQ No. 22 (Training) Group. Elaine West
Air Vice-Marshal Margaret Elaine West, (née Brindle; born September 1961) is a senior Royal Air Force officer. She was the first woman to hold a non-honorary air vice-marshal or equivalent rank in the British Armed Forces since the Second World War, and the first to achieve that rank in the regular forces. In September 2021, West was appointed to the Royal Household as a Lady Usher. Early life West was born in September 1961. She was brought up in the Lake District. Air Marshal Dame Susan Catherine Gray, ( Jessop; born 21 October 1963) is a former senior Royal Air Force officer. Since 2019, she has been Director-General of the Defence Safety Authority. She served as Director of Combat Air at Defence Equipment and Support in the Ministry of Defence (2014–16), and as Air Officer Commanding No. 38 Group (2016–18). She is the most senior female officer ever to serve in the British Armed Forces. Early life and education Gray was born on 21 October 1963. Nicky Moffat
Brigadier Nicola Patricia Moffat, (born 1962) was the highest-ranking woman in the British Army from 2009 until her resignation in 2012. She is now a leadership consultant and speaker. Life Moffat graduated in 1985 with a B.A. in Hispanic Studies from the University of Liverpool, though has said that she "almost got booted out" for neglecting her studies in favour of the Officers' Training Corps' activities. In 1995 she gained an MA in Military Studies, Defence from Cranfield University. She joined the then Women's Royal Army Corps after university, and stayed in the army 26 years, including a spell as military private secretary to Geoff Hoon while he was Minister of Defence.
