PBS Kids is the brand for most of the children's programming aired by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the United States. Some public television children's programs are not produced by PBS member stations or transmitted by PBS. Instead, they are produced by independent public television distributors such as American Public Television, and are not labeled as "PBS Kids" programming, as it is mainly a programming block branding. The target audience is children between the ages of 2 and 8. The network is also available in sub-Saharan Africa and Australia. SciGirls
''SciGirls'' is an American live-action/animated children's television series that premiered on February 11, 2010 on PBS Kids. It has a mix of live-action and animated segments. It is produced by Twin Cities PBS and builds on the "real kids doing real science" approach of DragonflyTV. It is an educational outreach program for elementary school children based on proven best practices for: science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education for girls. It was launched in February 2010 and produced by Twin Cities Public Television, the episodes are broadcast on most PBS stations and the project's website, ''SciGirls'', is designed to encourage girls to pursue STEM careers, in response to the low numbers of women in many scientific careers. A sixth season themed around NASA been confirmed and completed, but it is unclear when it will air.
