Lower Earley
Lower Earley is the southern portion of Earley civil parish and a large suburb of Reading, within the English county of Berkshire. It forms part of (along with neighbouring Earley, Winnersh, Woodley and Shinfield) a large suburban conurbation of over 85,000 inhabitants adjoining east and south-east Reading. Lower Earley and Earley have a combined population of around 32,000 and Lower Earley itself has developed since the late 1970s. By the mid 1980s it was considered to be the largest private housing development in the United Kingdom. Lower Earley forms a major part of Wokingham Borough. The Holt School
The Holt School is a secondary school located on the outskirts of Wokingham, Berkshire, England, on Holt Lane. It is a girls' school and currently teaches over 1,200 girls ranging from age 11–18. Boys are admitted to the sixth form. There are eight houses: Broderers, Clothworkers, Goldsmiths, Haberdashers, Lacemakers, Spinners, Tanners and Weavers. The school was founded in 1931, originally at Tudor House, and its first headmistress was G. M. Brown. It is a specialized language and science college and is in the top 100 highest achieving schools in GCSE, AS and A level exam results. The current co-headteachers are Anne Kennedy and Katie Pearce. In June 2020, James Furlong, a 36-year-old teacher who was head of history, government, and politics at the school, was stabbed to death in the 2020 Forbury Gardens stabbings in Reading. The Forest School, Winnersh
The Forest School is an all-boys secondary school and mixed sixth form with academy status, located in Winnersh, Berkshire, England. It is located on Robin Hood Lane, the B3030 road, next to Winnersh railway station. Since September 2012, the Forest has educated academy players from local Football League Championship football club Reading FC. History The Forest School began as Woodley Hill Grammar School in 1957, becoming the Forest Grammar School. The school was founded by Walter G. Jackson (also the mayor of Wokingham in 1953), the first headmaster of the school. Jackson retired in 1968, to be replaced by J. Piercy. In November 1965, the Nestlé company donated an Elliott 405 computer to the school, which was a first generation valve computer. The Emmbrook School
The Emmbrook School is a co-educational secondary school located in Emmbrook, Wokingham, Berkshire, England, for students between 11 and 18 years of age. There are around 1,378 students at the school, with nearly 200 in the Sixth Form. The School is expanding in September 2021 by increasing their numbers joining Year 7 Between the 14 and 16 March 2017, the school was inspected by Ofsted, who rated it as "Good". Winnersh is a large suburban village and civil parish in the borough of Wokingham in Berkshire, England. The village is located around northwest of Wokingham town centre and around southeast of central Reading. It is roughly bounded by the M4 motorway to the south, the A329(M) motorway to the north, and the River Loddon to the west. The parish extends beyond the M4 to cover the estate village of Sindlesham. Toponomy The name "Winnersh" comes from the Old English words meaning water meadow or pasture and (or earsh) meaning stubble field or park. Wescott Infant School is a coeducational infant school located in Wokingham, Berkshire, England. The school caters for children from ages four to seven (Reception to Year 2). Sonning is a village and civil parish in Berkshire, England, on the River Thames, east of Reading. The village was described by Jerome K. Jerome in his book ''Three Men in a Boat'' as "the most fairy-like little nook on the whole river". Geography The parish of Sonning originally included Charvil, Woodley and Earley and, before the formation of civil parishes in 1866, was a cross-county-boundary parish containing Sonning Eye, Dunsden Green and Playhatch in Oxfordshire as well. It is now much smaller and triangular shaped. The ecclesiastical parish of Sonning continues to include Sonning, Charvil and Sonning Eye. Hurst is a village in the civil parish of St Nicholas Hurst in the English county of Berkshire. Geography The parish of St Nicholas Hurst, is about north of Wokingham and south of Twyford in the county of Berkshire. It covers about and is the largest civil parish in the Borough of Wokingham. The village is on the A321 Twyford – Wokingham road. There are a number of other smaller areas of sporadic development, the main ones being along Davis Street on the B3030 Twyford – Winnersh road, along the B3034 Forest Road, from Bill Hill to Binfield and on Broadcommon Road.
