Sahitya Akademi
The Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of literature in the languages of India. Founded on 12 March 1954, it is supported by, though independent of, the Indian government. Its office is located in Rabindra Bhavan near Mandi House in Delhi. The Sahitya Akademi organises national and regional workshops and seminars; provides research and travel grants to authors; publishes books and journals, including the ''Encyclopaedia of Indian Literature''; and presents the annual Sahitya Akademi Award of INR. 100,000 in each of the 24 languages it supports, as well as the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship for lifetime achievement. The Sahitya Akademi Library is one of the largest multi-lingual libraries in India, with a rich collection of books on literature and allied subjects. Thapi Dharma Rao
Thapi Dharma Rao Naidu (1887–1973) was a Telugu writer, lyricist and social reformer. He wrote dialogues and lyrics for the films like ''Mala Pilla'', ''Drohi'', ''Thathaji'', ''Bhishma'', and ''Patni''. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for Indian Literature. He had authored many books which were the eye openers for many in the field of social sciences in India, in particular South India. His books ''Vidhi Vilasam'', many more have found a place in the annals of Indian literature. K Siva Reddy
K Siva Reddy is a Telugu poet from India who won Sahitya Akademi Award in Telugu, 1996 for his Poetry work ''Mohana-O-Mohana'' and was awarded the Saraswati Samman in 2018 for his poetry collection ''Pakkaki Ottigilite''. Career K. Siva Reddy retired principal of Vivek Vardhini College, Hyderabad and he taught English for thirty-five years there. He has translated African and European poems into Telugu. Arudra
Arudra (born Bhagavatula Sadasiva Sankara Sastry; 31 August 1925 – 4 June 1998) was an Indian author, poet, lyricist, translator, publisher, dramatist, playwright, and an expert on Telugu literature. He is also known for his works in Telugu cinema as a lyricist, dialogue writer, and story writer. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1987. Early life Aarudra was born in Yelamanchili, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India on 31 August 1925. Aarudra is the nephew of Telugu poet Sri Sri. After primary education, he shifted to Vizianagaram in 1942 for his college education. Palagummi Padmaraju, shortly P. Padmaraju (Telugu: పాలగుమ్మి పద్మరాజు) (24 June 1915 – 17 February 1983) is a Telugu writer and winner of Sahitya Akademi Award. He is known for his works in Telugu literature and Telugu cinema. Early life He was born in Tirupatipuram in West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. Ravuri Bharadwaja
Rāvūri Bharadvāja (1927 – 18 October 2013) was a Jnanpith award winning Telugu novelist, short-story writer, poet and critic. He wrote 37 collections of short stories, seventeen novels, four play-lets, and five radio plays. He also contributed profusely to children's literature. ''Paakudu Raallu'', a graphic account of life behind the screen in film industry, is considered his magnum opus. ''Jeevana Samaram'' is another of his popular works. Illindala Saraswati Devi (1918–1998) was a Telugu novelist, short story writer, biographer, essayist and social worker from Andhra Pradesh, India. Narla Venkateshwara Rao or V. R. Narla (1 December 1908 – 13 March 1985) was a Telugu language writer, journalist and politician from Andhra Pradesh in India. He was Rajya Sabha member twice from 3 April 1958 to 2 April 1970, and wrote a satakam in Telugu along with several other books. Narla Venkateswara Rao started as a journalist and became a humanist.
