Ketagalan Boulevard And Kuomintang Central Committee 20060521
Ketagalan or Ketangalan () are a Taiwanese aboriginal people originating in what is now the Taipei Basin. Their language has now become extinct. On 21 March 1996, the road in front of the Presidential Office Building was renamed from "Long Live Chiang Kai-shek" Road (介壽路) to Ketagalan Boulevard (凱達格蘭大道) by then-mayor of Taipei City, Chen Shui-bian, to commemorate the people. Traffic signs banning motorcycles and bicycles from that road were abolished at the same time. Beitou District in Taipei City houses the Ketagalan Culture Center, a cultural center about the Ketagalan people. Folklore Legend has it that the Ketagalan forebears originally lived on another island, Sanasay. One day, a monster appeared on the island. Every night it would appear in the village, terrorizing the villagers. Accordingly, the villagers laid traps for the monster all around their homes and fields. Nanjing Road (Taipei)
Nanjing Road (; also called 7th Blvd) is a major arterial in Taipei, Taiwan, connecting the Datong district in the west with the Zhongshan and Songshan districts in the east. Nanjing Road is known for heavy traffic channeling from the MacAuthur Bridge into central Taipei. There are bus lanes and platforms in the middle of the roadway to facilitate transit on the roadway. Underground MRT line runs under Nanjing Road for most of the corridor. Ciaonan Street
Ciaonan Street () is a historic street in Yanshuei District, Tainan, Taiwan. Name ''Ciaonan'' means ''south of the bridge'', in which the bridge mentioned crosses a small water body that once formed part of Yuejin Harbor. History The road went into decline since 1900 when Yuejin Harbor was closed. In late 2000s, the street was revamped and houses along the road were cleaned up and repainted. Architecture Ciaonan Street is the oldest street in Yanshuei. There are hundred years old blacksmith shops and historic buildings along the street. Shenkeng Old Street
The Shenkeng Old Street () is an old street in Shenkeng District, New Taipei, Taiwan. History In the 1980s, local residents campaigned against the demolition of the buildings along the street as part of the proposed road widening and redevelopment project. In 2010, a large-scale restoration project began. The management committee of the old street was established in 2014. In 2013, a regulation regulating the management of the old streets in New Taipei was enacted, enabling the committee to collect funds to preserve the heritage buildings of the old street. Features The street is famous for its tofu-related food, such as tofu gourmet, tofu snacks and tofu popsicle from various types of tofu. Sanxia Old Street
The Sanxia Old Street () is centered on Minquan Street in Sanxia District, New Taipei, Taiwan. History A renovation work was carried out starting in 2004 and completed in 2007 to restore the buildings along the street to their early 20th century style. It also includes the establishment of the management committee of the old street. Architecture The street spans over a length of 200 meters. Zhongxiao Road
Zhongxiao Road (, also called 4th Blvd. or Chunghsiao Road) is a major arterial boulevard that is part of provincial highway 5 in Taipei, Taiwan, connecting the Zhongzheng district in the west with the Daan, Songshan, Xinyi, and Nangang districts in the east. Zhongxiao Road is known as a popular shopping and entertainment area, with many large department stores and shopping malls located along most of the entire stretch. About half of the Nangang Line of the Taipei Metro runs under the road, with stations located at major intersections along the road, which accounts for the significant pedestrian traffic along the road. The majority of the road is 8-10 lanes wide with a median dividing the road. At the intersection with Zhongshan Road, there is a two-lane underpass for traffic on Zhongxiao Road to bypass the intersection. Zhongshan Road (Taipei)
Zhongshan Road (; also called 6th Blvd.), named after Sun Yat-sen, is a major arterial in Taipei, Taiwan connecting the Zhongzheng District in the south with the Datong, Shilin Districts and the Beitou District in the north. The road was built in Japanese rule period. It was called Chokushi kaidō (Chokushi Avenue), which was the road leading to Taiwan Grand Shrine. Zhongshan is notable as the commuting route of former ROC president Chiang Kai-shek between the Presidential Building and his Shilin District residence. Xinyi Road
Xinyi Road (, also called 2nd Blvd) is an eastbound one-way arterial forming a one-way couplet with the nearby Renai Road (3rd Blvd), connecting the Zhongzheng District with the Xinyi District in Taipei, Taiwan. Its western terminus is at the East Gate of Taipei's former city wall, at the intersection of Zhongshan Road, Ketagalan Boulevard, and Renai Road. Near the eastern terminus, there is a new interchange with the new Xinyi Expressway, a new highway connecting Xinyi Road in the Xinyi District to National Highway 3 in the Muzha District. Xinyi Road is known for the location of the original Din Tai Fung restaurant, which is famous for its Taiwanese dumplings, and as well as the location of the Taipei 101 skyscraper.
