The ''Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph'', founded by William Brown (journalist), William Brown (c. 1737–1789) as the ''Quebec Gazette'' on 21 June 1764, is the oldest newspaper in North America. It is currently published as an English language weekly from its offices in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Formerly a bilingualism in Canada, bilingual French-English publication, the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2014. West or Occident is one of the four cardinal directions or points of the compass. It is the opposite direction from east and is the direction in which the Sun sets on the Earth. The ''Westmount Examiner'' was a weekly English language newspaper serving Westmount, Quebec, Canada. It had a circulation of 11,000, with a policy of covering news only from within Westmount. It had been in print for over 80 years, and accompanied by an online presence beginning December 14, 2009. The paper's final issue came out on October 21, 2015. History Established in 1935, the ''Westmount Examiner'' initially consisted of only a few pages of local news and advertising. In 1952, its new owner, John Sancton, moved the paper to Westmount. In the late 1980s, the Sancton family sold the newspaper to Publications Dumont. It was part of the Montreal-based Transcontinental Inc. ''Montreal Mirror'' or just ''Mirror'' was a free English language alternative newsweekly based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada which was distributed every Thursday. It had a circulation of 70,000 and reached a quarter of a million readers per week. First published on June 20, 1985, the publication became a weekly in September 1989. It was bought by media giant Quebecor in 1997. It was published by ''Communications Gratte-Ciel Ltée''. On June 22, 2012, Sun Media (the division of Quebecor that the Mirror belonged to) announced that the paper would be ceasing publication effective immediately. Its president-publisher was Pierre Paquet, the editor-in-chief was Kevin Laforest. The first issue was published on February 4, 1993. ''Voir'' was a francophone alternative weekly newspaper in Montreal, Quebec, published by Communications Voir. ''Voir'' was founded by Pierre Paquet in November 1986. The first issue of the newspaper was published on 27 November 1986. Later on the newspaper developed various local issues with more targeted content. In 2013, the newspaper dropped from weekly to biweekly publication. On April 29, 2015, it was announced that all shares owned by Paquet were purchased by a group of buyers composed of XPND Capital, a Quebec-based private equity firm, and two members of ''Voirs management team, Michel Fortin and Hugues Mailhot. Starting 2016, it commenced publishing as a free monthly magazine.
