Bushranger Hotel is a heritage-listed hotel at 24 Church Street (Federal Highway), Collector, Upper Lachlan Shire, New South Wales, Australia. It is one of a group of historic sites labelled the Ben Hall Sites for their association with bushranger Ben Hall, along with Ben Hall's Death Site, Cliefden, Escort Rock, the Grave of Ben Hall and Wandi. It was built from 1860 to 1861. It is also known as Kimberley's Commercial Hotel and Kimberley's Inn. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 8 October 2010. History The first official land grants in Collector were to a father and son, Terrence and Terence Aubrey Murray in 1829. The Murrays sub-divided part of their grant in 1841 and apparently gave many of the lots to employees. Around 1851 Thomas Kimberly, a leather-worker, opened a boot shop in the town, and his Wellington boots became well known across the State. The Fortune of War Hotel is a heritage-listed pub located at 137 George Street, in the inner city Sydney suburb of The Rocks in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by the Tooth & Co. resident architect and built in 1922 by H. J. & H. W. Thompson. The property is owned by Property NSW, an agency of the Government of New South Wales. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 10 May 2002. History The site of the Fortune of War was originally part of the first hospital, erected in 1788. By 1790 the original tent hospital had been replaced by a portable hospital which came out with the Second Fleet. Argyle House is a heritage-listed former office building and now nightclub at Argyle Street, Newcastle, City of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It was built from 1860. It was also known as the Australian Agricultural Company Headquarters. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History This complex of buildings has grown over about 125 years. The original building is believed to date from the 1860s. A second building, joined by a covered way, was designed by Frederick Menkens and built 1903. Additions to this second building were designed by Frederick Menkens and F. G. Castleden in 1907, and by Castleden in 1909 and 1919. Castleden also designed a third essentially separate building in 1912. Exchange Hotel (Balmain)
The Exchange Hotel is a heritage-listed pub located in Balmain, a suburb in the inner west region of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. History The Exchange Hotel was the last pub to be built during the local boom of the 1880s. It was also the largest in the Balmain and Rozelle area. The original building consisted of 40 rooms connected with corridors. The pub became a major meeting point for the local community and in the early years as the centre for union members, including those of the Balmain Labourers Union which later went on to become the Painters and Dockers Union. The building is a three storey structure constructed in the Victorian Free Classical style. It has rendered masonry and a verandah with iron lace and timber lattice decorations to the middle level with timber posts to footpath. Ettamogah Pub
The Ettamogah Pub is a cartoon pub that was featured in the now defunct ''Australasian Post'' magazine. The cartoonist Ken Maynard, loving empty spaces and having nothing around him, enjoyed an area just outside Albury at Table Top, New South Wales, named Ettamogah, thus christening the eponymous name of his now famous pub the "Ettamogah Pub". The "Ettamogah Pub" chain of such pubs now exist in various parts of Australia including Sydney in New South Wales, and in Western Australia. Albury The pub was built by businessman Lindsay Cooper and first opened in 1987. The aim was to create a themed family restaurant which would become a tourist attraction. The timber building featured sloping walls and a distinctive architectural style true to the original cartoon design. In 2007, the hotel in Albury opened 17 new cabins for accommodation. The Dry Dock Hotel is a heritage-listed pub located in Balmain, a suburb in the inner west region of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The pub is the oldest licensed hotel in Balmain and one of a number of establishments which formed an integral part of the shipbuilding and industrial heritage of the local area. History The origins of the Dry Dock Hotel can be traced to the Dock Inn located at 4 Thames Street between 1857 and 1861. From here, the pub moved to 42-44 Mort Street between 1865 and 1866. The land on which the pub currently stands was part of a much larger grant to colonial surgeon Dr William Balmain made in 1800 by Governor John Hunter. The licensee Thomas Wakfer, purchased the property on the current site from James McCallum in 1867 for the sum of A£295. Dick's Hotel is a pub located in , a suburb in the inner west region of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The pub was built by John Dick, a local publican of note, in 1872 on the corner of Beattie and Montague Streets. The pub was known as Lean's Hotel from 1886 to 1898 when owned by Jabez Lean, but reverted to its former name after and has remained as such since. The hotel was the location for a number of community meetings following a number of drowning events across NSW. Then on the 8 February 1894 a unanimous decision was reached to establish an Australian Branch of the Life Saving Society of Great Britain (later to become the Royal Life Saving Society in 1904). History The coastal Aboriginal people around Sydney are known as the Eora. Central Sydney is therefore often referred to as "Eora Country". Commercial Hotel is a heritage-listed former hotel at 430-436 Smollett Street, Albury, City of Albury, New South Wales, Australia. It was formerly known as Waterstreet Hotel. The property is owned by Cohalan & Mitchell Roofing Pty Ltd, Lavington Plaster Linings Pty Ltd, Layisa Pty Ltd and Waterstreet Property Pty Ltd. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History The hotel is believed to have been constructed in , forming the oldest surviving public hotel in Albury. Another source says it was built even earlier, in 1844, by James Wyse. Modifications were made to the hotel in when a two-storey front verandah was constructed with timber floors and cast iron fretwork. In an architect-designed two-storey rear accommodation wing was constructed. In the ground floor windows were replaced with P&O style fenestration and concrete awning.
