Abdi İpekçi Peace Monument
The Abdi İpekçi Peace Monument is a monument sculpted by Gürdal Duyar, commissioned by the Şişli Municipality in 2000 in honor of the editor-in-chief of the ''Milliyet'' newspaper Abdi İpekçi and erected at the place where he was assassinated in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1979. The monument, which was erected on 2000, follows the renaming of Emlak Street to Abdi İpekçi Street in 1979, the Abdi İpekçi Peace and Friendship Prize in 1980, and the Abdi İpekçi Arena in commemorating İpekçi. Description The sculpture is located close to the middle of the Abdi İpekçi Street. The sculpture was made by the sculptor Gürdal Duyar. The bronze sculpture is tall and stands on top of a granite plinth. The composition of the sculpture consists of two children, a boy and a girl, holding up a bust of İpekçi. Runner (sculpture)
''Runner'' is a 2017 sculpture by Tony Cragg, installed outside the Istanbul Modern, in Turkey. The 6-meter-tall white artwork is on loan to the museum by the artist on a longterm basis. For ''Runner'', the artist wanted to "show the inner life under a rigid surface, making that energy and motion perceivable". Oya Eczacıbaşı, chair of the museum's board, said: "We are honored to receive this sculpture as a long-term loan ahead of the opening of our museum's new building. I believe that this sculpture by Cragg, an artist whose works attract curiosity and interest from every generation, will become one of the symbols of Istanbul Modern's new building." The Serpent Column ( grc, Τρικάρηνος Ὄφις ''Τrikarenos Οphis'' "Three-headed Serpent";, i.e. "the bronze three-headed serpent"; see See also , . tr, Yılanlı Sütun "Serpentine Column"), also known as the Serpentine Column, Plataean Tripod or Delphi Tripod, is an ancient bronze column at the Hippodrome of Constantinople (known as ''Atmeydanı'' "Horse Square" in the Ottoman period) in what is now Istanbul, Turkey. It is part of an ancient Greek sacrificial tripod, originally in Delphi and relocated to Constantinople by Constantine the Great in 324. It was built to commemorate the Greeks who fought and defeated the Persian Empire at the Battle of Plataea (479 BC).
