David Govedare
David Govedare (1950 – 2021) was an American artist. He is best known for his public semi-abstract steel sculptures and monuments which are primarily located within the Pacific Northwest. Govedare is known for his unique art style which fuses Native American themes with large metal sculptures. Govedare frequently appeared on television, featuring on shows such as PBS Northwest Profiles and was interviewed by Eric Johnston. Life Govedare grew up in Santa Ynez, California and started working with metal as child, creating lamps with old tin cans. In 1968, he graduated from Santa Ynez Valley High School. He spent most of his adult life working on some of Washington's best known sculptures He lived in Chawelah, Washington spending a decade constructing a strawbale house. Govedere had one son. High Desert Museum
The High Desert Museum is located near Bend, Oregon, United States. Opened in 1982, it brings regional wildlife, culture, art and natural resources together to promote an understanding of natural and cultural heritage of North America's high desert country. Wayne Chabre
Wayne Chabre (born 1947) is an American sculptor from Walla Walla, Washington. His works have been described as "whimsical". Many of his sculptures are functional, such as gargoyles and downspouts; railings and gates; lighting, pavilions, fountains, and benches. Early life and education Chabre was born in 1947 and raised on a farm in Walla Walla County, Washington. He attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, then joined the Peace Corps, where he served as a graphic designer in the Agricultural Information Service in Lesotho, Africa. After his Peace Corps service he lived in Estacada, Oregon for three years, then moved to Portland, Oregon. In 1975 he returned to Walla Walla. Betty Feves
Betty Feves (1918–1985) was an Oregon artist who helped shape the development of clay as an expressive medium in the years following World War II. Biography Feves was academically trained in the late 1930s and early 1940s, first earning a degree in art with a strong secondary emphasis on music at Washington State College, now Washington State University, where she studied with the noted artist Clyfford Still. She studied during a summer session with Alexander Archipenko at the University of Washington, and later at his studio in Ney York during 1940. Feves worked at Design Technics, a design studio in New York City during World War II, where she also attended classes taught by Ossip Zadkine at the Art Student's League. Following her marriage to Dr. Lou Feves, she returned to the Pacific Northwest, where she lived in Pendleton, OR until her death in 1985.
