List Of Provincial Parks Of Mainland British Columbia Coast
The list of provincial parks of the Mainland British Columbia Coast contains the provincial parks located within this geographic region of the province of British Columbia. It includes parks from the eight regional districts of Central Coast, Kitimat-Stikine, North Coast, qathet, Squamish-Lillooet, Sunshine Coast, and the mainland portions of Mount Waddington and Strathcona. These parks are administered by BC Parks under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy. Great Glacier Provincial Park
Great Glacier Provincial Park is a provincial park located in the Stikine Country region of British Columbia, Canada. It was established on January 25, 2001 to protect Great Glacier and the surrounding mountainous terrain. The park lies in the traditional territory of the Tahltan First Nation about south of the Tahltan community of Telegraph Creek. History According to the legends of the Tahltan and Tlingit First Nations, Great Glacier once spanned the entire width of the Stikine River to meet the toe of Choquette Glacier on the eastern side of the valley. The glacier was also the site of the last major battle between the Tahltan and Tlingit First Nations many generations ago. Exchamsiks River Provincial Park
Exchamsiks River Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located in the Range 5 Coast Land District, on the north side of the Skeena River between Terrace and Prince Rupert. The park's chief conservation role focuses on protecting one of the last known unlogged old-growth maritime coastal Sitka spruce-salmonberry ecosystems. Activities Vast swaths of coastal Sitka spruce rainforest rise where the Exchamsiks and Skeena River meet. It is through wilderness such as this that visitors pass if they take the trail. Most of the trails in the park are easily navigable and require no expert guidance. There are areas on the two rivers of the park where fishing enthusiasts can go after salmon. The park has two day-use areas. The first one, located on the Exchamsiks's west side, affords a boat launch area, open year-round.
