International Union Of Architects
The International Union of Architects ( French: ''Union internationale des Architectes''; UIA) is the only international non-governmental organization that represents the world's architects, now estimated to number some 3.2 million in all. About The UIA was founded on 28 June 1948 in Lausanne, Switzerland, following the merger of the ''Comité permanent international des Architectes'' and the ''Réunion International des Architectes.'' Its General Secretariat is located in Paris. The organisation is recognised as the only global architecture organisation by most United Nations agencies, including UNESCO, UNCHS, ESOSOC, UNIDO and the World Health Organization as well as the WTO. Royal Institute Of The Architects Of Ireland
The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland ( ga, Institiúid Ríoga Ailtirí na hÉireann) founded in 1839, is the "competent authority for architects and professional body for Architecture in the Republic of Ireland." The RIAI's purpose is "to uphold the highest standards in architecture and to provide impartial and authoritative advice and information in issues affecting architects, the built environment and society." The RIAI's primary roles are in the areas of: Protecting the consumer; Promoting architecture; Supporting architects and architectural technologists; and Regulating architects. The institute is governed by a 26-member council. Activities In addition to providing a range of services to the public, to members and to the State, the RIAI operates annual design awards, and is responsible for awarding the RIAI Gold Medal. North Wales Society Of Architects
The North Wales Society of Architects (NWSA) ( cy, Cymdeithas Penseiri Gogledd Cymru) formerly the ''North Wales Architectural Society'' is one of four branches of the Royal Society of Architects in Wales (RSAW). It was established in 1928 as an independent organisation, becoming a branch of the newly formed Society of Architects in Wales (as the RSAW was initially styled) in 1970 upon the restructuring of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The Society champions better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture and its members. As of 2014 it represented over 120 chartered architects in the region. The RSAW is the Wales region of the RIBA. RSAW was granted Royal status by the Privy Council in 1994. Royal Society Of Architects In Wales
The Royal Society of Architects in Wales (RSAW) is the Wales region of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The society was granted Royal status by the Privy Council in 1994. It is based in Cardiff, with four branches throughout Wales; Design Circle (RSAW South), Mid Wales Branch, North Wales Society of Architects and West Wales Branch. In 2007 the Society represented around 800 architects in Wales. RSAW regularly organises competitions to highlight good architecture in Wales. In 2012 it held a competition entitled ''ReDesigning the Terrace'', with the 12 shortlisted entries displayed at its conference in December 2012. Royal Incorporation Of Architects In Scotland
The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) is the professional body for architects in Scotland. History Previously the (lapsed) Architectural Institute of Scotland, it was re-founded in 1916 as the Incorporation of Architects in Scotland by architect Robert Rowand Anderson (1834–1921) from his sick bed. Anderson donated his Georgian architecture, Georgian townhouse in Edinburgh to be used as its home, where the organisation remains to this day. It was given its first Royal charter in 1922, followed by a second in 1929. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is a professional body for architects primarily in the United Kingdom, but also internationally, founded for the advancement of architecture under its royal charter granted in 1837, three supplemental charters and a new charter granted in 1971.
