Subdivisions Of Wales
Since 1 April 1996, Wales has been divided into 22 single-tier principal areas ( cy, Awdurdodau unedol), styled as counties or county boroughs ( or ) for local government purposes. The elected councils of these areas are responsible for the provision of all local government services, including education, social work, environmental protection, and most highways. Below these there are also (in most, but not all, parts of the principal areas) elected community councils to which responsibility for specific aspects of the application of local policy may be devolved. The last set of local elections in Wales took place in 2022, with the next due to take place in 2027. The monarch appoints a lord lieutenant as a representative in each of the eight preserved counties of Wales, which are combinations of principal areas retained for ceremonial purposes. Seiont (electoral Ward)
Seiont is an electoral ward in the town of Caernarfon, Gwynedd, Wales, electing councillors to the town council and Gwynedd Council. Description The Seiont ward covers an area either side of the Afon Seiont in the southern part of the community. The ward includes the southern part of Caernarfon town centre, including Caernarfon Castle, Caernarfon railway station and the housing estates south of the A4085. Seiont is bordered to the north by the A4085 (Constantine Road) and Caernarfon High Street, to the northwest by the Menai Strait and is surrounded to the southeast and southwest by the Bontnewydd ward. Penygroes, Gwynedd
Penygroes () is a village in Gwynedd, Wales. The village is located to the south of Caernarfon, and north of Porthmadog, by the A487 road. Penygroes' population stands at 1,793 at the 2011 census, of which 88% are Welsh-speaking, making it one of the most predominantly Welsh-speaking areas of the country. The population of Llanllyfni community, which includes Penygroes and Llanllyfni village, which practically adjoins Penygroes, plus Talysarn, is 4,135 according to the 2011 census. Etymology The name of the village is derived from ' "end" + ' " fthe" + ' "cross oads, referring to the crossing at the village of the roads from Carmel, Rhyd-ddu and Pontllyfni with the main Caernarfon–Porthmadog road. Pentir
Pentir is a community and electoral ward in the county of Gwynedd, Wales, and is 124 miles (199.9 km) from Cardiff and 205 miles (329.4 km) from London. In 2011 the population of Pentir was 2450 with 58.7% of them able to speak Welsh. It includes the Penrhosgarnedd suburbs of Bangor, Glasinfryn, Caerhun and the hamlet of Pentir. Penisarwaun
Penisa'r-waun is a small village which is located 4 miles to the east of Caernarfon and a mile to the northeast of Llanrug on the A4547 in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. Education The village includes a primary school, Ysgol Gymuned Penisarwaun, that instructs around 60 pupils aged between 3''–''11. Peblig, Caernarfon
Peblig is an electoral ward in the town of Caernarfon, Gwynedd, Wales, electing councillors to the town council and Gwynedd Council. Description The Peblig ward covers an area east of Caernarfon town centre, sandwiched by two A roads - to the north by the A4086 (Llanberis Road) and to the south by the A4085. The meandering Afon Seiont and the boundary of the Cibyn Industrial Estate form the eastern border. The ward includes the town's Church of St Peblig. Ogwen Rural District
Ogwen was a rural district in the administrative county of Caernarfonshire in Wales from 1894 to 1974. The district was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of the former Bangor Rural Sanitary District in Caernarfonshire. The rest on the Isle of Anglesey, formed Aethwy Rural District. The district was named after the River Ogwen and Ogwen Valley. The district contained the following civil parishes, now communities: *Aber *Llandygai *Llanllechid *Pentir In 1894 the urban district of Bethesda was formed from part of Llanllechid parish. Llanwnda, Gwynedd
Llanwnda is a village, community and electoral ward in Gwynedd, Wales. The community has a population of 1,994 as taken at the 2011 Census.
