Kevin Stocker
Kevin Douglas Stocker (born February 13, 1970) is an American former Major League Baseball shortstop and switch hitter. Stocker played with the Philadelphia Phillies (1993–1997), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998–2000) and Anaheim Angels (2000). A 1988 graduate of Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley, Stocker attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where he played college baseball for the Huskies from 1989–1991. Stocker was also a member of the fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha. Stocker was selected by Philadelphia in the 1991 MLB draft, taken in the second round with the 54th overall selection. He made his major league debut in 1993 on July 7 at Veterans Stadium in a marathon game that lasted 6 hours and 10 minutes. Stocker played all 20 innings in the defeat of the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-6. Gene Kelly (broadcaster)
Gene Kelly (born Eugene Sims) (October 6, 1918 – September 18, 1979) was an American sportscaster, best known as the announcer for the Philadelphia Phillies during the 1950s. Early life Kelly was born Eugene K. Sims in Brooklyn, New York on October 6, 1918. He attended Marshall University, graduating in 1941. After graduating Kelly signed a Class C contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers, but arm trouble prevented him from continuing as a player. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Career Originally, By Saam was the broadcaster for both Philadelphia A's and Philadelphia Phillies games, which was possible because only home games were broadcast live, and the A's and Phillies shared Shibe Park, therefore were never home at the same time. Todd Harry Kalas (born December 31, 1965) is an American sportscaster, employed since 2017 as a television play-by-play announcer for Houston Astros baseball. Education Kalas graduated from Syracuse University's S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 1988 with a degree in broadcast journalism. At Syracuse, he worked at WAER radio to call Syracuse Orange sports. Career He moved to Tampa Bay as sports director at Vision Cable in Clearwater. Harry Kalas
Harold Norbert Kalas (March 26, 1936 – April 13, 2009) was an American sportscaster, best known for his Ford C. Frick Award-winning role as lead play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball's Philadelphia Phillies, a position he held from 1971 until his death in 2009. Kalas was also closely identified with the National Football League, serving as a voice-over narrator for NFL Films productions (a regular feature on ''Inside the NFL'') and calling football games nationally for Westwood One radio. Kalas collapsed in the Washington Nationals' broadcast booth on April 13, 2009, about an hour before a Phillies game was scheduled to begin against the Nationals, and died soon afterward. John William Johnstone Jr. (November 20, 1945 – September 26, 2020) was an American professional baseball player and television sports announcer. He played in Major League Baseball as an outfielder from 1966 to 1985 for the California Angels, Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago Cubs. Jim Jackson (born March 23, 1963) is an American professional sportscaster. He currently serves as the TV play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia Flyers. Jackson formerly did radio play-by-play broadcasting duties for the 4th and 5th innings of Phillies home games. Philadelphia Flyers Jackson, an Upstate New York native, started his professional career broadcasting for the Utica Devils after graduating from Syracuse University. Herb Carneal
Charles Herbert Carneal (May 10, 1923 – April 1, 2007) was an American Major League Baseball sportscaster. From 1962 through 2006, he was a play-by-play voice of Minnesota Twins radio broadcasts, becoming the lead announcer in 1967 after Ray Scott left to work exclusively with CBS. Prior to 1962, he broadcast for the Baltimore Orioles, partnering with Ernie Harwell from 1957 to 1959 and with Bob Murphy in 1960–1961. His mellow baritone voice and laid-back demeanor were well loved by Twins fans and formed a well balanced team with the more excitable and emotional style of his longtime broadcast partner John Gordon. Carneal was for many years known (and introduced as such by Gordon at the beginning of each game) as "The Voice of the Twins". Bill Campbell (sportscaster)
Bill Campbell (September 7, 1923 – October 6, 2014) was a sportscaster in the Philadelphia area. He was born in the Logan section of North Philadelphia. Campbell began his broadcasting career in high school at multi-ethnic WTEL, a Philadelphia radio station. He moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1941 as a Minor League Baseball announcer, and then settled in Philadelphia in 1942, where he lived the rest of his life. Campbell first started in area radio at WIP, before moving to WCAU in 1946 as sports director, taking the same position when WCAU-TV began its historic telecasts, in 1948; he remained in that position until 1966. Campbell was play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia Warriors from their debut in 1946 until their move to San Francisco in 1962, calling Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game.
