Wojciech Kurtyka
Wojciech Kurtyka (also ''Voytek'' Kurtyka, born 25 July 1947, in Skrzynka near Kłodzko) is a Polish mountaineer and rock climber, one of the pioneers of the alpine style of climbing the biggest walls in the Greater Ranges. He lived in Wrocław up to 1974 when he moved to Kraków. He graduated as engineer in electronics (in 1973 at Wrocław University of Technology). In 1985 he climbed the "Shining Wall" Gasherbrum IV, which ''Climbing'' magazine declared to be the greatest achievement of mountaineering in the twentieth century. In 2016, he received the Piolet d'Or for lifetime achievement in mountaineering. Marek Krajewski (born 4 September 1966, in Wrocław) is a Polish crime writer and linguist. He is best known for his series of novels set in pre-war Wrocław (which was, at the time, Breslau) with the policeman Eberhard Mock as the protagonist. These novels have been translated into 18 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Hebrew, and Russian among others. Urszula Kozioł (born 20 June 1931) is a Polish poet. In 2011, she was a recipient of the Silesius Poetry Award. Biography Kozioł was born in Rakówka, Lublin Voivodeship, Rakówka, a village in Poland. She attended high school in Zamość and graduated from the University of Wrocław, University of Wroclaw in 1953. Her debut poetry collection was ''Gumowe klocki'' ("Blocks of rubber", 1957), but her second, ''W rytmie korzeni'' ("In the Rhythm of the Roots", 1963), is considered her breakthrough. Of her 1963 poem "Recipe for the Meat Course", translator Karen Kovacik writes that it "functions simultaneously as an Ars Poetica (Horace), ars poetica and an ironic riposte to those who believed a woman's place was in the kitchen" and "depict[s] housework or domestic life through motifs of violence and estrangement." Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic
Transnistria, officially the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), is an unrecognised breakaway state that is internationally recognised as a part of Moldova. Transnistria controls most of the narrow strip of land between the Dniester river and the Moldovan–Ukrainian border, as well as some land on the other side of the river's bank. Ewa Elvira Klonowski (born 18 November 1946 in Wrocław, Poland) is a forensic anthropologist. She took political refuge in Iceland in 1981, following the declaration of martial law in the People's Republic of Poland. She has been living in Reykjavik, Iceland since 1982. In 1996, she began working on individual and mass graves exhumation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since then, she has been responsible for the excavation and identification of over 2,000 victims, and in 2005 she was nominated to the list of the 1,000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize. Hubert Hurkacz (; born 11 February 1997) is a Polish professional tennis player. He has been ranked as high as world No. 9 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), which he first achieved in November 2021, making him the highest-ranked Polish man in singles history. He has won five ATP Tour singles titles, including a Masters 1000 title at the 2021 Miami Open. With the win, he became the first Pole to win an ATP Masters 1000 title.
