Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland ( ga, Tuaisceart Éireann ; sco, label= Ulster-Scots, Norlin Airlann) is a part of the United Kingdom, situated in the north-east of the island of Ireland, that is variously described as a country, province or region. Northern Ireland shares an open border to the south and west with the Republic of Ireland. Rory Best
Rory David Best (born 15 August 1982) is an Irish former rugby union player from Northern Ireland and was the captain of the Ireland national team from 2016 to 2019. He played hooker for Ulster and was registered for Banbridge RFC, having previously represented the Newcastle Agrics. Best earned 124 caps for Ireland, making his debut in 2005 and retiring at the end of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, his fourth World Cup. Best is one of the most capped rugby players of all time, as well as the most-capped forward to ever represent Ireland. Best toured with the British & Irish Lions side in 2013 and 2017. Blu Hydrangea is the stage name of Joshua Cargill (born 15 February 1996), a Northern Irish drag queen from Belfast who is known for competing on the first series of ''RuPaul's Drag Race UK'' (2019) and later winning the first season of '' RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs the World'' (2022). Career Blu Hydrangea was announced as part of the cast of ''RuPaul's Drag Race UK'' on 21 September 2019 and subsequently finishing in fifth place on the series, being eliminated in the "Thirsty Work" episode, losing the lip sync to fellow contestant Cheryl Hole. Outside of ''Drag Race'', Blu Hydrangea is a well-known make-up queen, part of a band called the Frock Destroyers (with Baga Chipz and Divina de Campo). Peter Canavan
Peter Canavan (born 9 April 1971) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer, manager and pundit. He played inter-county football for Tyrone, and is one of the most decorated players in the game's history, winning two All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals, six All Stars Awards (more than any other Ulster player, and joint third overall), four provincial titles, and two National Leagues and several under-age and club championship medals. He represented Ireland in the International Rules Series on several occasions from 1998 until 2000. Def Leppard
Def Leppard are an English rock band formed in 1976 in Sheffield. Since 1992, the band has consisted of Rick Savage (bass, backing vocals), Joe Elliott (lead vocals), Rick Allen (drums, backing vocals), Phil Collen (guitar, backing vocals), and Vivian Campbell (guitar, backing vocals). They established themselves as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement of the early 1980s. The band's greatest commercial success came between the early 1980s and the early 1990s. Vivian Campbell
Vivian Patrick Campbell (born 25 August 1962) is a Northern Irish guitarist. He came to prominence in the early 1980s as a member of Dio (band), Dio, and has been a member of Def Leppard since 1992 (replacing Steve Clark after his death). Campbell has also worked with Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Sweet Savage (Irish band), Sweet Savage, Trinity, Riverdogs, and Shadow King (band), Shadow King. Biography Campbell began playing guitar at the age of 12 with a Fender Telecaster Thinline, Telecaster Thinline and Carlsbro Stingray amp. Stiff Little Fingers
Stiff Little Fingers are a punk rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They formed in 1977 at the height of the Troubles, which informed much of their songwriting. They started out as a schoolboy band called Highway Star (named after the Deep Purple song), doing rock covers, until they discovered punk. They were the first punk band in Belfast to release a record – the " Suspect Device" single came out on their own independent label, Rigid Digits. Their album ''Inflammable Material'', released in partnership with Rough Trade, became the first independent LP to enter the UK top 20. After six years and four albums, they split up. They reformed five years later, in 1987. Despite major personnel changes, they are still touring and recording. John "Jake" Burns (born 21 February 1958) is a singer and guitarist, and is best known as the frontman of Stiff Little Fingers, although he has also recorded with Jake Burns and the Big Wheel, 3 Men + Black, and as a solo artist. Early life Burns was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and grew up in Joanmount in Ballysillan. Burns' mother was a seamstress, and his father was a machinist in a textile machinery factory/steel foundry, where he was a shop steward, and his socialist views were an influence on Burns. Anna Burns FRSL (born 7 March 1962) is an author from Northern Ireland. Her novel ''Milkman'' won the 2018 Booker Prize, the 2019 Orwell Prize for political fiction, and the 2020 International Dublin Literary Award. Kenneth Branagh
