Karen McCarthy
Karen McCarthy (March 18, 1947 – October 5, 2010) was an American educator and politician. She served as the U.S. representative for the fifth district of Missouri from 1995 to 2005. Early life McCarthy was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts and grew up in Leawood, Kansas, and graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and English from the University of Kansas in 1969 and a Master of Arts in English Education from the University of Missouri–Kansas City in 1976. McCarthy later earned an M.B.A. at the University of Kansas. Prior to running for public office, McCarthy taught English at Shawnee Mission South High School and the Sunset Hill School. Jennifer Hopkins
Jennifer Dent (born February 10, 1981, as Jennifer Hopkins) is an American former professional tennis player. She won seven singles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit in her career and nearly cracked the top 50. In 2001, she reached her only WTA Tour singles final in Hobart (which she lost to Italian Rita Grande). In 2003, she played some ITF Circuit events, reaching the final in Atlanta and the semifinals at Dothan. In 2002, she won her only WTA doubles title at Strasbourg, partnering with Jelena Kostanić. However, she has never gone beyond the second round in any of the four major tournaments that make up the Grand Slam. She last played in an ITF tournament in October 2005 in Bangkok. Seth Sinovic (; born January 28, 1987) is an American former soccer player. He most recently played as a left back for the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer. Career College and amateur Sinovic grew up in Leawood, Kansas to parents of Croatian descent, and attended Rockhurst High School, and played college soccer at Creighton University from 2006 to 2009. During this time Sinovic earned such accolades as First-team all-Missouri Valley Conference, second-team NSCAA All-Midwest Region and second-team all-MVC honors. Ryan Raybould (born May 30, 1983 in Leawood, Kansas) is an American former soccer player who played as a midfielder for the Gefle IF of Allsvenskan in Sweden. He signed a developmental contract with the Wizards on March 11, 2005. He appeared in 19 games. After four seasons in MLS, Raybould signed a contract with Swedish club Gefle IF during the summer 2008. His stint in Gefle was a short one, Raybould only played four games in the Swedish top tier league, and he resigned a year later. Jonathan Kempin (born April 8, 1993) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a goalkeeper. Kevin Lee Seitzer (; born March 26, 1962) is an American former third baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, and Cleveland Indians. He is currently the hitting coach for the Atlanta Braves, having also coached for the Royals, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Toronto Blue Jays. Daniel Raymond "Quiz" Quisenberry (; February 7, 1953 – September 30, 1998) was an American right-handed relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played primarily for the Kansas City Royals. Notable for his submarine-style pitching delivery and his humorous quotes, he led the American League in saves a record five times (1980, 1982–85). Alexander Jonathan Gordon (born February 10, 1984) is an American former professional baseball left fielder who played his entire career for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2007 to 2020. Prior to playing professionally, Gordon attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he played college baseball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Mark Richard Vlasic (born October 25, 1963) is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons. During this time, he played for the San Diego Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Over the course of his career, he played in 15 games, completed 75 of 142 passes for 762 yards, threw four touchdowns and five interceptions, and finished his career with a passer rating of 63.2.
