Mário João Carlos do Rosário de Brito Miranda (2 May 1926 – 11 December 2011), popularly known as Mario Miranda or Mario de Miranda, was an Indian cartoonist and painter based in Loutolim in the Indian state of Goa. Miranda had been a regular with ''The Times of India'' and other newspapers in Mumbai, including ''The Economic Times'', though he got his popularity with his works published in '' The Illustrated Weekly of India''. He was awarded India's second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan (posthumously) in 2012. Cincinnatus Fabian D’Abreo was an administrator and politician in Karachi, British India. Biography He was born on 24 September 1862. His father, Manuel D’Abreo had migrated to Sindh in 1846. Cincinnatus was married to Maggie Gomes with whom he had five children, Joe, Maggie, Alfred, Gwennie and Bill. He was educated at St Patrick's High School, Karachi. However, he had to discontinue his studies at the age of 16 and earn a living, due to the unfortunate death of his father. He was first employed by the Civil and Military Gazette Press as a clerk. Vamona Ananta Sinai Navelcar (5 May 1930 – 18 October 2021) was an artist from Goa, India, who had studied and worked in Portugal, Mozambique, and Goa. Navelcar was born in Pomburpa village. Navelcar began his art career in Mozambique, after training in Portugal, where he also lived for some time. He excelled in Christian figurative art. He adopted the name of "Ganesh", after an incident that caused him to be "reborn" ( Lord Ganesh is associated with new beginnings) and in memory of his brother Ganesh. Navelcar had been called "a state treasure of Goa, whose remarkable oeuvre spans several decades."
