Ebonyi State ( ig, Ȯra Ebonyi) is a state in the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered to the north and northeast by Benue State, Enugu State to the west, Cross River State to the east and southeast, and Abia State to the southwest. Named for the Abonyi (Aboine) River—a large part of which is in the state's south—Ebonyi State was formed from parts of Abia and Enugu state in 1996 and has its capital as Abakaliki. Francis Otunta
Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta (29 April 1958 – 30 March 2021) was a Nigerian mathematician and academic administrator. He was the fifth Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture upon his appointment in December 2015. Career Prior to his appointment as 5th Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Otunta had previously worked as a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Benin. Michael Nnachi Okoro (born 1 November 1940) is a Nigerian clergyman who was the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki from 19 February 1983 until his retirement on 6 July 2021. Background and early life Okoro is from Unwana in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. He was born in Adiabo in Calabar, Cross River State. His is the last of 8 children. Priscilla Ekwere Eleje is the first Director of Currency Operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Uche Ewah Azikiwe , (born 4 February 1947) is a Nigerian academic, educator and author. She is the widow of former President of Nigeria Nnamdi Azikiwe. Akanu Ibiam
Akanu Ibiam (29 November 1906 - 1 July 1995), was a distinguished medical missionary who was appointed Governor of Eastern Region, Nigeria from December 1960 until January 1966 during the Nigerian First Republic. From 1919 to 1951, he was known as Francis Ibiam, and from 1951 to 1967, Sir Francis Ibiam.
