Gurney Bay, formerly known as Gurney Wharf, is a seafront park within George Town, Penang, George Town in the States and federal territories of Malaysia, Malaysian state of Penang. Intended as a "''new iconic waterfront destination for Penang''", the first phase of this public space off Gurney Drive, George Town, Gurney Drive was opened to public in 2024. Upon the expected completion of Gurney Bay by 2025, the park will comprise four distinct recreational zones - a beach, a coastal grove, a water garden and a lifestyle area. Mimaland
Mimaland is an abandoned recreation water theme park in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. Regarded as Malaysia's first theme park, it opened in 1975 and closed down permanently in May 1994, after a landslide damaged the property. The entrance gate and remains of Mimaland still exist today. History Mimaland started operating in 1975. The name ''Mimaland'' is actually an acronym of the word combination Malaysia In Miniature Land. Mimaland was built on a hilly area of in Ulu Gombak near Kuala Lumpur, served by an exit to the Malaysia Federal Route 68, old Gombak-Bentong road. It was owned by Mimaland Berhad, a member of Magnum Corporation, Magnum Group of Companies (now Magnum Corporation). National Botanic Gardens Shah Alam ( ms, Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam or TBNSA) is a national botanic garden in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. Taiping Lake Gardens
The Taiping Lake Gardens ( ms, Taman Tasik Taiping) is the first public garden established during the British rule in Malaysia. The garden is located near Bukit Larut, and is equidistant to the town centre and the Taiping Zoo. History The Taiping Lake Gardens was originally a mining ground before it was established as a public garden in 1880. The idea of a public garden was the brainchild of Colonel Robert Sandilands Frowd Walker. The garden was developed by Charles Compton Reade (1880–1933), who was also responsible for planning the Kuala Lumpur garden town, together with Lady Swettenham. The abandoned tin mine ground was donated by Chung Keng Quee as a recreation park for public use. Sia Boey Urban Archaeological Park
The Sia Boey Urban Archaeological Park, also colloquially known as the Sia Boey, is an urban archaeology park within the city of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Located at Prangin Road, it is touted as the first Urban Archaeological Park in the country. The Sia Boey Urban Archaeological Park contains various recreational amenities, such as a koi fish-filled revitalised Prangin Canal, aged-old trees and a playground for the kids, all of which are open to the public. The park is maintained by the Penang Development Corporation.
