This is a list of painters of Saint Petersburg Union of Artists (founded 2 August 1932 as the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists, since 1959 named as the Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation. Union of Artists of Saint Petersburg (russian: Санкт-Петербургский Союз художников) was established on August 2, 1932, as a creative union of the Leningrad artists and arts critics. Prior to 1959, it was called " Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists". From 1959 (when it joined the Union of Artists of the RSFSR), it was called as ''Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation''. After the renaming of the city in 1991, it became known as the ''Saint Petersburg Union of Artists''. Piotr Petrovich Belousov (russian: Пётр Петро́вич Белоу́сов; May 3, 1912 – March 31, 1989) was a Ukrainian and Russian graphic artist, painter, art teacher, professor of the Ilya Repin Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, People's Artist of the USSR, corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, who lived and worked in Leningrad. He was regarded as one of the brightest representatives of the Leningrad school of painting, being most famous for his portraits and historical paintings. Biography Filonov was born in Moscow on January 8, 1883 (Gregorian calendar) or December 27, 1882 (Julian calendar). In 1897, he moved to Saint Petersburg, St. Petersburg, where he took art lessons. Alexei Grigorievich Eriomin (russian: Алексе́й Григо́рьевич Ерё́мин; March 17, 1919 – June 11, 1998) was a Russian Soviet realist painter, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, who lived and worked in Saint Petersburg (former Leningrad).
