This is a list of the number-one songs of 2016 in Mexico. The airplay chart rankings are published by Monitor Latino, based on airplay across radio stations in Mexico using the Radio Tracking Data, LLC in real time. Charts are ranked from Monday to Sunday. The streaming charts are published weekly by AMPROFON (Asociación Mexicana de Productores de Fonogramas y Videogramas). Chart history (airplay) In 2016, nineteen songs reached number one on the General chart, the biggest amount since the chart started in 2007. Of these, fourteen songs were entirely or mostly in Spanish, and the remaining five were entirely in English (also the biggest amount since the chart was founded). "El perdedor" ( en, "The Loser") is a song by Colombian singer Maluma taken from his second studio album ''Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy'' (2015). Sony Music Latin released it as the album's third single on 9 February 2016 following fan demand. It was written by JY (El De La J) and Maluma alongside Kevin Mauricio Jiménez, Bryan Snaider Lezcano Chaverra and Miky la Sensa. Calibre 50 () is a Regional Mexican band founded in the city of Mazatlán, Sinaloa in 2010. Their style is Norteño-Banda, a hybrid of Norteño, which uses an electric bass or tololoche for the low notes and replaces it with a sousaphone (tuba), which is typically used in Banda for the bass notes. History Before establishing Calibre 50, Edén Muñoz had been the accordionist and vocalist in the Norteño-banda group, Colmillo Norteño. With Muñoz, the group scored the hit songs "Sueño guajiro" and "Hotel El Cid" in 2009, among others. Nevertheless, conflicts with the other members of the band led Muñoz to quit Colmillo Norteño in early 2010, and he founded his own band later that year, recruiting Armando Ramos as guitarist and backing vocalist, Martín López as sousaphonist, and Augusto Guido as drummer. La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho, or simply La Arrolladora, is a Mexican banda from Mazatlán, Sinaloa. In 1997 they signed with Sony Music Latin. In 2003, they switched labels and signed with Disa Records. History Banda El Limón was formed in 1965 in El Limón de los Peraza, Sinaloa by Pedro Aramburo, Encarnación Peraza, Lino Quintero, Carlos Peraza and Pedro Peraza. The Banda began performing in the port of Mazatlán, and in 1976, Salvador Lizárraga assumed the direction of the Banda. In 1997, internal conflicts arose in the Banda, as René Camacho assumed the temporary direction while Salvador Lizárraga was recovering from a stroke. Banda Los Recoditos is a Mexican Banda formed in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. It was founded in 1989 by friends and family members of Banda el Recodo by Cruz Lizárraga. Alfonso Lizárraga and Pancho Barraza, the first vocalists, were two of the more than dozen bandmembers comprising the original incarnation of the band.
