Marshall Hain were a British pop-rock duo known for their 1978 hit " Dancing in the City", a UK No. 3 single in the UK Singles Chart in mid-1978 and number 3 in Australia. Overview The duo comprised keyboard player Julian Marshall and vocalist and bass player Kit Hain, who met while they were pupils at Dartington Hall School. " Dancing in the City", written by both members of the duo, was also a hit in Europe and Australia, where it spent 24 weeks in the Australian Charts during August through to December 1978, peaking at 3. In the United States the song reached No. 43 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in the winter of early 1979. Village People is an American disco group known for its on-stage costumes and suggestive lyrics in their music. The group was originally formed by French producers Jacques Morali, Henri Belolo and lead singer Victor Willis following the release of the debut album ''Village People'', which targeted disco's large gay audience. The group's name refers to Manhattan's Greenwich Village, with its reputation as a gay neighborhood. The characters were a symbolic group of American masculinity and macho gay-fantasy personas. As of 2022, Victor Willis is the only original member of the group. Luv' were a Dutch girl group that scored a string of hit records in Continental Europe (Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway and Finland) as well as Israel, South Africa, Rhodesia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Argentina and Mexico in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The original members were Patty Brard, José Hoebee and Marga Scheide. In 1979, Luv' was 'Holland's best export act' and thus received the 'Buma Export Award, Conamus Export Prize'. The band sold more than seven million records worldwide (singles and albums). It appears on the 1978 debut album With Luv' and on compilations (Luv' Gold, 25 Jaar Na Waldolala, Completely In Luv'...). It is the group's international breakthrough as it was successful in a large part of Continental Europe, Israel and South Africa. Luv' reached its peak with this million-seller. Clout was, originally, an all-female South African rock music, rock musical ensemble, group formed in Johannesburg in 1977, best known for their hit single, "Substitute (The Righteous Brothers song), Substitute". Later in their career, the group included some male musicians, who had played as session musicians on the recording. "Rasputin" is a song by Germany-based pop and Eurodisco group Boney M. It was released on 28 August 1978 as the second single from their third studio album ''Nightflight to Venus'' (1978). Written by the group's creator Frank Farian, along with George Reyam and Fred Jay, it is a song about Grigori Rasputin, a friend and advisor of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and his family during the early 20th century. The song describes Rasputin as a playboy, mystical healer, and political manipulator.
