Its data, published by the Australian Recording Industry Association, is based collectively on the weekly Compact disc, physical and Digital distribution, digital sales and Streaming media, streams of albums and EPs. In 2024, 15 albums have so far claimed the top spot. The first number one of the year, Taylor Swift's ''1989 (Taylor's Version)'', carried over from 2023 after spending the last eight weeks of the year at the top. The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. The charts are a record of the highest selling songs and albums in various genres in Australia. ARIA became the official Australian music chart in June 1988, succeeding the Kent Music Report, which had been Australia's national music sales charts since 1974.
