This is a list of paid daily newspapers in the world by average circulation. Worldwide newspaper circulation figures are compiled by the International Federation of Audit Bureaux of Circulations and World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers. This list shows the latest figures that are publicly available through either organisation. Some figures are disputed; the numbers for Japanese newspapers have been subjected to claims of "oshigami" (exaggeration by over-supplying papers to businesses). Free newspapers are not counted. A newspaper is a periodical publication containing written information about current events and is often typed in black ink with a white or gray background. Newspapers can cover a wide variety of fields such as politics, business, sports and art, and often include materials such as opinion columns, weather forecasts, reviews of local services, obituaries, birth notices, crosswords, editorial cartoons, comic strips, and advice columns. Most newspapers are businesses, and they pay their expenses with a mixture of subscription revenue, newsstand sales, and advertising revenue. People's Daily
The ''People's Daily'' () is the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The newspaper provides direct information on the policies and viewpoints of the CCP. In addition to its main Chinese-language edition, the ''People's Daily'' is published in multiple languages. History The paper was established on 15 June 1948 and was published in Pingshan, Hebei, until its offices were moved to Beijing in March 1949. Ever since its founding, the ''People's Daily'' has been under direct control of the CCP's top leadership. ''Rajasthan Patrika'' is an Indian Hindi-language daily newspaper. It was founded by Karpoor Chandra Kulish in 1956 and published as ''Rajasthan Patrika'' in Delhi and Rajasthan, and as ''Patrika'' in 9 other states. As per Indian Readership Survey 2013, ''Rajasthan Patrika'' emerged as the fourth most-read Hindi language newspaper in India, and ''Patrika'' emerged sixth. The ''Nanfang Daily'' (), also known as ''Southern Daily'' and ''Nanfang Ribao'', is the official newspaper of the Guangdong provincial committee of the Chinese Communist Party. The paper was established in Guangzhou on October 23, 1949. On October 15, 1949, Ye Jianying arrived in Guangzhou, surrounded and disarmed all speculators, and arrested more than ten journalists for re-education. The premises and equipment of the Kuomintang's '' Central Daily'' were immediately seized and taken over. The paper was changed to ''Nanfang Daily'', first published on October 23. The newspaper is eponymous to the more lively and commercial ''Southern Metropolis Daily'' and part of the giant Nanfang Daily Newspaper Group.
