Carlo Giuseppe Bergamin (19 January 1868 – 16 July 1934) was a sculptor and monumental mason born in Carrara, in Italy, who later migrated to New Zealand. Luke Romano
Luke Romano (born 16 February 1986) is a New Zealand rugby union footballer who plays as a lock for the Blues in Super Rugby and Canterbury in the Mitre 10 Cup. He played for the All Blacks from 2012 - 2017 and was a key member of 2015 Rugby World Cup winning team. Career Romano is a New Zealand international, making his debut on 23 June 2012 in a 60–0 win against Ireland in Hamilton. He currently has over 30 caps and has scored 2 tries. Romano was a regular starter for the early stages of his international career, but missed many opportunities to play through injuries which saw his starting spot taken by Brodie Retallick. Romano only played one international match in 2014, a 24-16 victory over Scotland off the bench. Romano's return from injury in 2015 saw him named in the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Carin Wilson
Carin John Wilson (born 2 March 1945) is a New Zealand studio furniture maker, sculptor and design educator. He was a leader in the country's craft movement in the 1970s, 80s and 90s and was one of the inaugurators of the design showcase ''Artiture'' in 1987. He is a descendant of the Ngāti Awa ancestor Te Rangihouhiri and the founding chairman of Ngā Aho, a design initiative that advocates for collaborative and creative practices among professionals within the Māori tribal structure and community. The Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design conferred Wilson with an Honorary Diploma in Art and Design; in 2002 he received an inaugural Toi Iho mark, a registered Māori trademark of authenticity. His design practice, Studio Pasifika, has been in operation since 1993. Daniel Vettori
Daniel Luca Vettori (born 27 January 1979) is a New Zealand cricket coach and former cricketer who played for the New Zealand national cricket team. He was the 200th player to win their Test cricket cap for New Zealand. Vettori was the youngest male player to have represented New Zealand in Test cricket, making his debut in February 1997 at the age of 18. He captained New Zealand between 2007 and 2011 and is New Zealand's most-capped Test cricketer and One Day International cricketer, with 112 Test caps and 291 ODI caps. A bowling all-rounder, Vettori was the eighth player in Test cricket history to take 300 wickets and score 3,000 runs. A slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler, Vettori was known for his accuracy, flight and guile rather than prodigious turn. Raffaello Squarise
Raffaello Squarise (13 November 1856—15 April 1945), also known as Raphael Squarise, was an Italian violinist, teacher, conductor, and composer, who settled in Adelaide, South Australia, and Dunedin, New Zealand. He was a pioneer in the establishment of classical music in New Zealand. Biography Early years in Italy Raffaello Squarise was born in Vicenza, Italy, where his father, Antonio Squarise, worked as a sculptor. He attended the Istituto Musicale, Turin, for six years, studying violin under Francesco Bianchi and Pietro Bertuzzi, and composition under Carlo Pedrotti. Around this time he played in the orchestra of the Teatro Regio. Squarise graduated in 1875, completing a miniature ''Symphony in C Minor'' for his final examination. Piri John Ngarangikaunuhia Sciascia (6 November 1946 – 18 January 2020) was a New Zealand Māori people, Māori leader, kapa haka exponent, and university administrator. From 2016 until his death, he served as kaumātua and advisor to the governor-general of New Zealand, governor-general and government of New Zealand. Early life and family Born at Porangahau on 6 November 1946, Sciascia was the son of Frank la Basse and Maymorn Sciascia. He was of Māori and Italian descent, and affiliated to Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngati maniapoto, Ngāti Raukawa, and Rangitāne. Paolo Rotondo is a New Zealand director, writer and actor of stage and screen. Biography Rontondo was born in Napoli, Italy, from a Neapolitan father and New Zealand mother of Irish descent. He grew up in Italy and moved to New Zealand when he was eleven. As an actor, Rotondo is best known for his character Andrew Solomon on the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street. James Mzamo Musa (born 1 April 1992) is a New Zealand professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for USL Championship club Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
