Casa De La Independencia Museum
The Casa de la Independencia Museum is a history museum and historic house located in Asunción, Paraguay. The museum was inaugurated on May 14, 1965, and showcases pieces of history that date back to the independence of the country. During the evening of May 14, 1811, a group of Paraguayans emerged from this house to declare the independence of Paraguay. It is a national monument that has great historical significance. Behind its walls the emancipation from the Spanish colonial rule was planned in a silent and brave manner. Located on the corner of the streets ''Presidente Franco'' and ''14 de Mayo'', it has a marked Colonialism, colonial style. History The house was built in 1772 by the Spanish settler Antonio Martínez Sáenz who was married to the Paraguayan Petrona Caballero de Bazán. The Botanical Garden and Zoo of Asunción () is a botanical garden and zoo located in Asunción, capital of the Republic of Paraguay. The Botanical Garden and Zoo is one of the principal open spaces of the city of Asunción, set in natural forest covering to the north of the city. The zoo is home to nearly seventy species of wildlife including birds, mammals and reptiles, mostly representing the fauna of South America. Museo del Barro is a museum located on the outskirts of Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. It began as a private circulating collection and seven years later acquired a permanent location. It includes three separate divisions, a pottery museum, an indigenous art museum and a contemporary art collection. History Olga Blinder and Carlos Colombino a circulating collection in 1972 of prints and drawings for public spaces and educational displays. As their collection grew and diversified, they needed a permanent location to house it. The Museo del Barro was founded in 1979 as a private institution to house the large indigenous pottery collection (clay) reflected in its name. The Museum of the Memory of the City (''Museo Memoria de la Ciudad'') is located in the Viola House (Casa Viola), one of the nine buildings that make up the architectonic complex Manzana de la Rivera, in front the Government house, in Asunción, capital of Paraguay.
