Bald Hills (Humboldt County)
The Bald Hills are a range of mountains, in Humboldt County, California. The Bald Hills lie south of the Klamath and Trinity Rivers, between those rivers and Redwood Creek. The valleys at their feet and their lower slopes are covered by redwood forests but their summits are "bald", lacking woodland and instead are covered by meadows. These hills gave their name to the Bald Hills War fought between the local Indian tribes among these hills and the forces of local settler militia, California State Militia and California Volunteers and United States Army from 1858 to 1864. The hills are part of the Yurok Tribal lands. The Bighorn Mountains are a mountain range of the Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges, located in San Bernardino County, California. They are primarily within a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) protected area. Geography They are an eastern subrange of the San Bernardino Mountains. Big Maria Mountains
The Big Maria Mountains are located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of California, near the Colorado River and Arizona. The range lies between Blythe and Vidal, and west of U.S. Route 95 in California and east of Midland. The mountains are home to the Eagle Nest Mine and reach an elevation of 1,030 meters, (3,379 ft). A power line that runs from Parker Dam to Yuma, Arizona runs through the range. A smaller range, the Little Maria Mountains, lie to the west of the Big Marias. Bernasconi Hills
The Bernasconi Hills are a low mountain range of the Peninsular Ranges, located in Riverside County, California, United States. Location The range forms the eastern flank of the Lake Perris reservoir. Bernasconi Pass separates the range into two parts: the Bernasconi Hills North and the Bernasconi Hills South. A monument in the pass recognizes that Juan Bautista de Anza and his expedition, the first Europeans to visit the area, traveled through the pass in March 1774. With the damming and formation of Lake Perris in 1973, the western side of the pass was flooded, but the pass can still be used to access Bernasconi Beach and Bernasconi Cove on the southeast end of the lake. Parts of the range are within the Lake Perris State Recreation Area. Berkeley Hills
The Berkeley Hills are a range of the Pacific Coast Ranges that overlook the northeast side of the valley that encompasses San Francisco Bay. They were previously called the "Contra Costa Range/Hills" (from the original Spanish ''Sierra de la Contra Costa''), but with the establishment of Berkeley and the University of California, the current usage was applied by geographers and gazetteers. Geology The Berkeley Hills are bounded by the major Hayward Fault along their western base, and the minor Wildcat fault on their eastern side. The highest peaks are Grizzly Peak (elevation 1,754 feet/535 m) and Round Top (elevation 1,761 feet/537 m), an extinct volcano, and William Rust Summit 1,004 feet (306 m). Vollmer Peak (elevation 1,905 feet/581 m), although commonly thought to be part of the Berkeley Hills, is actually located on the adjacent San Pablo Ridge near the point where it meets the Berkeley Hills at the head of Wildcat Canyon.
