Mosque
A mosque (; from ar, مَسْجِد, masjid, ; literally "place of ritual prostration"), also called masjid, is a place of prayer for Muslims. Mosques are usually covered buildings, but can be any place where prayers ( sujud) are performed, including outdoor courtyards. The first mosques were simple places of prayer for Muslims, and may have been open spaces rather than buildings. In the first stage of Islamic architecture, 650-750 CE, early mosques comprised open and closed covered spaces enclosed by walls, often with minarets from which calls to prayer were issued. Mosque buildings typically contain an ornamental niche ('' mihrab'') set into the wall that indicates the direction of Mecca (''qiblah''), Wudu, ablution facilities. Sohar
Sohar ( ar, صُحَار, also Romanized as Suḥār) is the capital and largest city of the Al Batinah North Governorate in Oman. An ancient capital of the country that once served as an important Islamic port town, Suhar has also been credited as the mythical birthplace of Sinbad the Sailor. According to the 2010 census, Suhar's population was 140,006, making it Oman's fifth most-populated settlement. Described as an industrial town, the development of the Sohar Industrial Port during the 2000s has transformed it into a major Omani industrial hub. Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque Sohar
The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque ( ar, جَامِع ٱلسُّلْطَان قَابُوْس ٱلْأَكْبَر, Jāmiʿ As-Sulṭān Qābūs Al-Akbar) is a mosque located in Sohar, Oman. It was named after the previous Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said. Construction The mosque is built on a site occupying , and the built up area is . The area allocated for the mosque accommodates landscaping, car parks and other facilities. The main prayer hall can hold over 4,600 worshipers, while the women's area can accommodate 740 worshipers. The mosque has a garden, three main entrances, four minarets, and a blue main dome. It also integrates wood in its design. The interior of the mosque is intricate with subtle colors. ''Muscat Daily'' is an Omani newspaper that was founded in 2009. The print edition of ''Muscat Daily'' is the largest-selling English daily in Oman with nearly 33,500 copies sold every day on Omani weekdays (Sunday to Thursday) . Apex Media includes it's free weekly newspaper 'theweek' free to Muscat Daily subscribers each Thursday as their weekend edition. ''Muscat Daily'' is owned by Apex Media, a leading Omani publishing company, established for nearly 40 years. Al Buraimi Governorate
Al Buraimi Governorate ( ar, مُحَافَظَة ٱلْبُرَيْمِي, Muḥāfaẓat Al-Buraimī) is one of the 11 governorates of Oman which was split from the Ad Dhahirah Region. Until October 2006, the area was part of Ad Dhahirah Region. At this time, the new governorate was created from the Wilayats (Provinces) of Al Buraymi and Mahdah. A third wilayat, As-Sunaynah, was created from parts of the two. The town of Al-Buraimi is an oasis town in northwestern Oman, on the border of the United Arab Emirates. An adjacent city on the UAE's side of the border is Al Ain. Both settlements are part of the historical region of Tawam or Al-Buraimi Oasis.
