List Of Medical Schools In Thailand
Medical education in Thailand was pioneered by King Chulalongkorn, who founded the country's first medical school called the "School of Medical Practitioners" at Siriraj Hospital in 1889, now the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. There are now 23 institutions offering medical programs nationwide, most of them public. All medical schools in Thailand award a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, whereby the degree is equivalent to a master's degree in Thailand. Most of these schools also provide postgraduate and specialist programs. The Medical Council of Thailand is responsible for verifying all curricula. Ratchaburi Hospital
Ratchaburi Hospital () is the main hospital of Ratchaburi Province, Thailand. It is classified by the Ministry of Public Health as a regional hospital. It has a Collaborative Project to Increase Production of Rural Doctors (CPIRD) Medical Education Center which trains doctors for the MOPH-Mahidol CPIRD Program. History The foundation stone for Ratchaburi Hospital was laid on 2 April 1941 and the hospital opened in 1941, consisting of a small patient building, doctor's lodgings, and a kitchen. Initially, the hospital had a capacity of 25 beds. The hospital was later expanded and between 1951 and 1952, hospital operations were transferred to the Ministry of Public Health. On 30 September 2003, the hospital received ISO 9002:20031 accreditation and in 2006 received HA (Hospital Accreditation). Ratchaburi Hospital operates 855 beds (plus 40 ICU beds) (2018). Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital () is the main hospital of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand and is classified under the Ministry of Public Health as a regional hospital. It has a CPIRD Medical Education Center which trains doctors for the MOPH-Mahidol CPIRD Program. It is an affiliated teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University. History The construction of Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital started in 1952 on a 37 rai piece of land owned by Prince Yugala Dighambara, Prince of Lopburi that was location of the Pho Yai Rot Palace, his place of residence when he was viceroy of the South. Sawanpracharak Hospital () is the main hospital of Nakhon Sawan Province, Thailand and is classified under the Ministry of Public Health as a regional hospital. Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital () is the main hospital of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand and is classified under the Ministry of Public Health as a regional hospital. The Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University ( th, คณะแพทยศาสตร์โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล) has long been regarded as Thailand's most prestigious medical school. Mahidol University
Mahidol University (Mahidol), an autonomous research institution in Thailand, had its origin in the establishment of Siriraj Hospital in 1888. Mahidol had an acceptance rate for Medicine of 0.4% as of the 2016 academic year. Becoming the University of Medical Science in 1943, it has been recognized as the country's fourth public university. The university was later renamed in 1969 by King Bhumibol Adulyadej after his father, Prince Mahidol of Songkhla, the "Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health of Thailand". The Faculty of Medicine, Mahasarakham University () is a medical school in Northeastern Thailand located in Mueang Maha Sarakham District, Maha Sarakham Province. History The Faculty of Medicine, Mahasarakham University was founded as a sub-division of the university, following a university council meeting on 21 November 2003. Initially, it was located at the Kham Riang Campus (New Campus), and a medical service center was opened on 1 July 2004. Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), situated in Chiang Rai Province in northern Thailand, is named after the Princess Mother (Somdet Yah), Mae Fah Luang was the name given to her by the local people in Chiang Rai.
